I like that the 2 halves are being treated like 2 seasons, except I’m guessing that means no Rumbelle reunion until very near the end of the first half.
I’m thrilled that Belle is getting a storyline, but what does it say about Adam/Eddy that the only way they can give her one is without Gold? I feel like they do “get” how powerful and deep Rumbelle love is, but they have no interest at all in writing them……….just in writing them apart. I mean, please Eddy – their relationship faces a challenge because they’re separated? They have been separated 99% of the time since Skin Deep – what they have is not so much a relationship as it is feelings and moments.
I think the point of this separation is to develop Belle as a character in her own right, then reunite Rumbelle so that Belle can continue to be awesome with Rumple. If they suddenly had Belle being independent as a character with Rumple, it wouldn’t make sense. They have to show her growing individually first, then with Rumple both as one half of Rumbelle and as her own person. My own personal instinct is that after Rumbelle are reunited in S3, they won’t be separated again for awhile.

She was always awesome with him, though I think also that this poor woman has suffered endlessly at the hands of Gold’s enemies. Adam and Eddy created Belle, who is a an amazing and unique character in many ways) and as we all know, they adore Emilie, personally and professionally. I’m sure Belle will have a lot to do. I mean, if SB is going to continue to be the home base, then it’s important that not only is it protected, but that the citizens are cared for. Belle will have to make them feel safe, give them a sense of security……and that is a hard job, but a heroic one. When everyone gets back, the Charmings (don’t give a rat’s behind about Hook and Regina; I will never forgive them) had better look in the mirror and realize how shabbily they treated Belle I have a feeling SB under Belle’s leadership will be in a better place than it was under the Charmings.
I hate having no Rumbelle for half a season at least; to me that is a complete waste of Bobby/Em chemistry….. and no Rumbelle still hurts badly even though I agree with you for the most part. Knowing Adam/Eddy, we won’t see them thinking of each other at all – yet another thing we’ll have to assume happens off-screen. I’d like to see Gold zap a final letter to Belle where she’d be sure to find it; there’s no way he wouldn’t want to say goodbye to her in full, like he couldn’t at the docks.
Hmm, even if they are reunited in S3, will we see them in a relationship? I don’t know. For one thing, Belle should move back in with him. For another, we need to see them actually being with each other, bantering with each other, having dinner, making breakfast for each other, watching tv…….and kissing, lol, for the sheer love of it instead of because they have to say goodbye. No we don’t have to see episodes of this, but we have to see enough of it. I’m still very upset that they probably made love and we didn’t get any of the preliminaries, didn’t get any of the “first”. Remember how Rumple wanted to make a home for Belle in Skin Deep? We should have seen Gold bring Belle to “his” house, to be “their:” house.
In terms of their story, we need to see these two enjoy being in love; there is so much the writers can do with them. It’s not enough to give them some brief reunion kiss and then start the angst all over again. I would love to see Belle be a bridge between father and son as well, so that could be part of their story, but they suck at balance. How are they going to balance out the need to show Gold/Bae and Rumbelle? With the writers, it’s all or nothing……
I have been extremely positive about S3 and even the separation until yesterday – now it’s just painful.

I agree she was always awesome with him, but a lot of people complain that Belle has no reason “to be” outside of her relationship with Rumple; that all she is is his TL and nothing more. That’s why many people don’t like Belle and don’t want her around more because she isn’t a character in her own right. Now, I disagree because I love her, but I’m biased. They do need to show Belle becoming her own person in SB by herself, not just as Rumple’s other half.

I think this will happen, actually. I think Belle will play a huge part in reuniting Bae and PapaRumple.

June 9, 2013 at 5:10 pm #197684JosephineParticipantPoor Adam. He probably lays in bed at night lamenting with his wife he fought another battle with crazy shippers on twitter that day. Being a crazy shipper myself, I can still smile at it, but sometimes that man needs to just shut up.
I love Rumbelle as well as anyone else. It’s my favorite ship on television, but I’m kind of glad that they’re separated. If done right, this could be the major character growth Belle needs. I also want to see Belle reunite with her father. We’re all going on about how Nealfire needs to heal the divide with his father, but what about Belle. Yes, he tried to erase her memory and kidnapped her, but unlike what Hook and Regina did to her, it came from a place of love. Ultimately, that’s her father and she needs to mend fences with him. I’m hoping with Belle in Storybrooke, hopefully as Mayor, that we’ll see Moe and Belle reunited again.

Adam and Eddy sure know how to play one ship off of another 🙄

I sort of thought that some didn’t like Belle because she appeared to them to be goody two shoes, but frankly, I think she’s far more popular than not. The problem is, we saw an amazing Belle in SD and the Outsider, but then she lost herself for the rest of the season. Now I think in some ways we have to give the writers something of a pass because when they made Emilie a regular, it meant that Gold’s arc had to change tremendously. Yet, they still had to have him go to NY…….so I think, and they wouldn’t ever admit this, that that is why Belle was stuck in a hospital. They would have had to adjust a lot of their episodes to have Belle interact significantly with others while he was gone – hence the Charmings doing a crappy job of looking after her. They were too busy with Anton and things that had been plotted out before.
So now they know she’s a regular and they can create her own storyline – and that’s great. I just don’t know what they want to show of Rumbelle…….. They can tell us until the cows come home how much they love them, but stop telling us – show us (or don’t tell us – don’t get our hopes up). It’s one thing to have obstacles, it’s another to face an endless string of tragedies.
This off-camera stuff has to stop. I personally think Gold and Belle would dream of each other and frankly, because I think they are extraordinarily connected, I could see them dreaming of each other at the same time, waking up at the same time and calling out for each other. They need to show something like this because it’s just not Rumbelle for them not to be missing each other, needing each other – and it would be a complete waste of Bobby/Em’s chemistry to not have them work together at all for half the season.
I think Bae and Belle are connected already and I hope that Belle will be a bridge. She has been devoted to him for a long time; I believe she loves him already because he’s a part of the man she loves. I would love for them to bond. No matter how angry he is, deep down, Bae is that little boy who adores his papa. He hasn’t forgotten how much they loved each other – he just doesn’t want to think about it. He knows who his father was pre-curse and Belle is the only one who saw that in him as the DO. Bae does not know his father as an adult, he knows his father only as a boy knows his father; even though he was a mature kid, still there were things he could never know about how emotionally damaged his papa was, what the curse did to him beyond the obvious. These are things only an adult could understand – hence Belle truly understands Gold.
I’m hoping Neal will make his way to SB somehow, Belle will have a grand reunion with Phillip and Mulan, and Neal will realize rather quickly that the woman he heard his father make that phone call to is an exceptional woman. I want them to bond – he’ll love her, he can’t possibly not.

My favorite part of this is the “someone else.” If anyone had any doubts that A and E are trolls who knows how to tease, this should set the record straight.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"June 9, 2013 at 5:21 pm #197688angiebelleParticipantI agree with RumplesGirl- this separation is going to help Belle come into her own so that when RumBelle does reunite, she’ll be stronger than ever and finally fully integrated into the town. I’m really looking forward to the new storyline.
