I’m a Rumbelle fan, so I can’t apologize for wanting them to be together……
I’m sure they’ll reunite at some point in S3, but how long that lasts remains to be seen since we’ve never seen them together for more than 5 minutes. I wish I trusted Adam/ Eddy to write this relationship, but since they are the only ones we have, I have no choice but to sit back and watch – either a train wreck or what it really should be, the most exquisite love story ever..

Oh, I’m with you. For several hours after the finale aired, I was so livid that I think I tried to hijack every thread created for the finale to talk about how angry I was. I’ve since decided that Belle on her own is going to be great because it will give fans who don’t like Belle (and there are many of them) because all she is is Rumple’s TL, a chance to see what we see. No one’s asking you to apologize. Rumbelle is my OTP, so I understand.
Just read your edit:
I think we should bear in mind a few things:
1) Rumbelle is written by several people, not just A and E.
2) You should trust A and E. They love Belle and love Emilie and love Rumbelle. This is about growing Belle’s character as more than Rumple’s girlfriend. You and I see her as more, but a huge portion of the fandom does not. A and E have given us great Rumbelle moments, and I expect we’ll get a lot more."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"June 9, 2013 at 5:44 pm #197695lostwithmeParticipant@RumplesGirl wrote:
My favorite part of this is the “someone else.” If anyone had any doubts that A and E are trolls who knows how to tease, this should set the record straight.
Haha, yeah. I think he said that for the Swan Queeners. Oh man, he’s going feel their rath when Emma gets 2 love interests next season that aren’t Regina. I can’t even imagine the angry tweets he’ll be getting.

I think the point of this separation is to develop Belle as a character in her own right, then reunite Rumbelle so that Belle can continue to be awesome with Rumple. If they suddenly had Belle being independent as a character with Rumple, it wouldn’t make sense. They have to show her growing individually first, then with Rumple both as one half of Rumbelle and as her own person. My own personal instinct is that after Rumbelle are reunited in S3, they won’t be separated again for awhile.
Yeah. I think they decided to leave Belle behind for two reasons.
1. They clearly have a storyline planned for SB and needed at least one regular there. Of course Henry’s two mom’s would go to NL, of course Snow and Charming went with their daugher to help find their grandson, Hook’s needed to steer the ship and guide them through NL, and after Rumple tried to kill Henry, he needs to this to redeem himself. So that leaves Belle as the best candidate. She doesn’t have as much reason to help find Henry.
2. They realize Belle’s in desperate need for development outside of Rumple.
So they killed two birds with one stone by doing this.
I guess we’ll never know, but I feel like if she had went to NL, because she would have been with all the core characters – she would have just been lost in the background. At least now she’s the most important person in SB because she’s the only regular, so anything that goes on there will mostly revolve around her. I really don’t mind waiting for Rumbelle to be reunited because I’m so excited about her getting her own storyline.
After this, I can’t see them separating Rumble yet again. At least not physically. I’m sure there’ll be more angst in other ways. 😆

The thing is, I can’t worry about fans who don’t like Belle; that’s their issue. We shouldn’t have to have story just to please them.
I was livid as well after the finale – actually downright devastated and livid – and I had come to see the good in them being separated. Adam said on twitter just now that being hopeless would have meant Belle staying as Lacey. Yes, that’s one way, but when the two are constantly separated and they can never spend time together, never have moments together, never be happy – that’s another way. Yeah, A/E want drama, but how about a little balance? Do I really want to keep crying over this ship? Good lord, they are tragic – it’s exhausting shipping them. At some point, when do the fans get tired of watching the same thing over and over?
Again, I think fans just want balance…….Jane said you need the downs to appreciate the ups, but we never got any ups (2 minute burger scenes don’t count, lol)I won’t be like this all the time, I promise, lol. I have been very positive recently and maybe I’m just overtired…….Everything everyone has said makes sense and hopefully I can get back to this better place.

I love Adam generally; Eddy grates on my nerves with what he says…….but I do think they like Belle and they adore Emilie. No doubt. I think they like Rumbelle because if they didn’t, they couldn’t possibly have produced such exquisite story (though IMO, Rumbelle is 99% Bobby and Emilie). They have actually personally written some of the most wonderful Rumbelle scenes………I just don’t know that they want to write them in a relationship; I think they like having these two want each other and the only way they can do that is to separate them.
I just think it’s not enough to get moments with them. Their entire relationship has been a series of events. When will we get to see them together, facing things like Snowing does? They’ve not spent any significant time together…….I’m very skeptical. One thing also -where is the romance? It’s not like there’s a lot of Snowing romance either, but Rumbelle is a very passionate relationship. It was clear they should have kissed in the Outsider, but no – they refused to let them kiss to build up the drama into the finale. That’s annoying. A little of Bobby and Emilie goes a long way, so they don’t have to write scenes that can’t air, lol – just write the scene and let the two actors take it from there.
June 9, 2013 at 5:50 pm #197697angiebelleParticipantOh, I was initially very upset too! I was almost in tears at the goodbye scene not just because it was a sad scene but because I thought Belle was going to be forgotten. I keep watching the last two kiss scenes from the finale over and over. I love RumBelle together too.

I know. Those scenes in the finale were extraordinary……..I watch them all the time, over and over; there is just so much there to see, sigh.
I do think one reason so many fans are upset is that they didn’t make it clear why Gold decided Belle had to stay. In the show, ok, he left her with a spell…….but then A/E revealed in the podcast that he was trying to protect Belle and didn’t want her to see him die. Well why not at least make that clear in the episode? I realize it’s tricky because too much info could come across as exposition. I was pissed off at the time because I didn’t want Gold to decide Belle’s fate. She has the right to live her life and make her own decisions – and I felt that she could have been a huge asset in NL. Now they say that they are looking forward to the JR folks interacting – well that’s really why Belle isn’t there; she would have interfered with the relationship between enemies. So in the end, which is it? Gold just wanted to protect her without taking into account her feelings? He trusted her to take care of the town? They keep saying different things.
A/E talk a lot – and then don’t often deliver. Eddy said prior to S2 that he would be very disappointed if we didn’t get Rumbelle romance – and we didn’t. Adam sort of teased about Belle having a difficult adjustment to the modern world and then we never saw that.
I’ll try to be positive about what would come after a potential Rumbelle reunion because the alternative, being constantly frustrated, is NOT a good thing………
I think I’ll just keep watching the phone call, Lacey and finale scenes……….that will make me feel sort of better, lol
June 9, 2013 at 6:10 pm #197701angiebelleParticipantI didn’t have any problems understanding why Rumple told Belle to stay- he believes he is going to his death and doesn’t want Belle to see that.
I think we saw lots of beautiful romantic moments between them in S2. Maybe not as much as we RumBellers would have liked, but it was definitely there.
I do wish there were more Belle adjusting to our world moments. That would have been so fun! Unfortunately, season 2 was so drama focused, the smaller lighthearted moments were glazed over- for every character.
June 9, 2013 at 6:11 pm #197702rumbelledearieParticipantI know how you feel – I, like RumplesGirl, was all over the different threads after the finale FUMING. I really felt sickened by it all. I actually still can’t rewatch the finale cause it hurts lol, but I do see the benefit now in Belle staying behind – WE know from flashbacks how awesome she is, but no one on the show but Mulan does. Even Rumple doesn’t know what she can do – remember in The Outsider when she wanted to help get the cloak back and he was like, “How? Have you ever dueled with a pirate before?” He hasn’t seen her be bad*** either. So I think having her come into her own and hopefully save the town or protect it and whatever that will entail will really elevate her character on the show and I REALLY want to see Rumple’s face when hears of whatever awesome things I’m sure she’s going to do. Cause he really hasn’t seen her in action!
I was angry cause I felt like they wasted her character this past season, but is it true that they didn’t know if she would be able to be a regular until the last minute? If so they probably had to go ahead and plan out an arc for the season without her, and then when they finally got her they had to work her in here and there. That would explain the absence of Belle in S2. But now that they know way ahead of time going into S3 that Emilie is a regular I’m very hopeful they have a fuller storyline worked out for her.June 9, 2013 at 6:20 pm #197703lostwithmeParticipantI just thought of something. Does that room with all the doors have a door to Neverland? Or is the only way in and out of NL by flying or using beans?
I’m sure as soon as Neal is able, his first thought will be to get back to SB, but if there aren’t any more beans he’s going to have to come up with another plan. What if he thinks he can go to NL through a door, and get back to our world from there by flying out. He managed it once already. Of course if that were to happen he’d find out that Henry and Emma are in NL and wouldn’t go to SB.

Yes and he doesn’t want Belle trapped in dangerous NL forever, especially if he thinks he’s going to die and won’t be there to help protect her.
I really don’t think he cares at all about what happens to anyone left in SB. He knows if someone is in danger, Belle will do whatever she can to help. So he used the cloak spell and the danger of the home office to convince her to stay. Otherwise she would have went on the boat whether he liked it or not. Belle will not leave anyone in danger if she can help it.

I do think that the writers can’t keep holding fans’ hands and so they expect fans to have a little bit of understanding of the characters. At the time it aired, it didn’t occur to me that Gold didn’t want Belle to see him die; it just never entered my mind. All I could think of was that he was trying to control her life……. After reading many posts on Tumblr (and Adam’s tweets), I came to change my mind. Of course he would not want her to see him die a violent death and be haunted for the rest of her life by those images…………Though I think Belle would rather be with him, comforting him as he was dying, instead of far away.
We did see beautiful Rumbelle moments in S2, but I’m talking about romance, about being able to kiss and make love (whatever they can show us) because they are in love and they just need and want to. Their kisses are always fraught with something – there’s always something going on so that they can’t enjoy it.
We got:
1) The Broken kiss.
2) Library scene in the Croc
3) All of the Outsider
4) Gold’s hospital kiss in Brother
5) The phone call scene
5) The FinaleThese two touch a LOT – they have a desperate need to touch each other, to be physically close, and so the Outsider was particularly great for that. I happen to be a fan of their epic hugs, but I want a love scene – or at least the preliminaries.
Rumbelle scenes are always amazing because of Bobby and Emilie, but they are almost always tragic………
Gold would have had no way of knowing about Belle in FTL and her adventures, but he knew exactly how brave and bold she was, how devoted she was, in the Outsider. This is why I believe it was as much his episode as hers. For one, he always believed she was a hero, but here he saw that she risked her life for his son – his son that she’s never met. At the beginning, he said it was his journey to take a lone, but at the end, he truly wanted her to go with him. He said “here WE go”, not “here I go”………..Belle helped with the shawl and, lol for god’s sakes, he bent down to her. That moment……….wow.
I think Belle understood the implications of what Gold was saying (that he was going to his death, that he didn’t want her to see it), though I don’t think she really feels a need to constantly be protected. I can see her starting to chafe under his restraint……..he won’t let her be brave like she wants because he’s afraid for her.
I wonder how exactly everyone is supposed to get back to SB if it’s cloaked. I mean, Gold wasn’t expecting to return, but the others would………
