series premiere of “Galavant” (2.1/6 in 18-49, 7.9 million viewers overall at 8), which was followed by a second episode at 8:30 (1.9/5 in 18-49, 6.8 million viewers overall at 9).
The 2.1 rating was above the most recent episode of “Once Upon a Time” to air in the 8 o’clock half-hour in December (1.7) and it makes “Galavant” the third highest-rated comedy premiere of the season — behind “Black-ish” on ABC (following “Modern Family”) and “Marry Me” on NBC (following “The Voice”)

So tomorrow is the first episode back for season 4. Ratings wise, we ended on a bit of a low (but not horrible for a show in its 4th season) but let’s recap what we know about how ratings work for first episode back and then beyond:
–it will probably rise a tad for 412. We ended on about a 1.8 and I’m predicting a 1.9-2.2 for 412.
–It will then begin to slowly fall over the next 11 until we hit a floor, probably around 1.5-1.7 (yes, that’s okay for a show in it’s fourth season)
–We almost ALWAYS increase at least .1 the next day

At the moment, the Top 25 rating is a 2.3.

That’s a pretty decent start and about where S3B started. Typically we have a steady week or two and then the decline begins, but that’s a solid beginning.
