ParticipantNew series low. Yeah, I can believe it. 4×17 was my least fave episode so far of my least fave season–and that’s saying something after the disaster that was the Evil-Warlord-Bo-Peep-and-David episode, 4×2. And saying the ratings will go back up isn’t saying much…because even going up two or three tenths isn’t much of a “bump” when the average of 4b I suspect will be lower than any other half season (including 3b).

KeymasterThe ratings until the season finale are largely going to depend on how the GA feels about the latest plot developments. Is Zelena being alive something that they are sold on or something they didn’t like at all. To be fair, I’m seeing both reactions around the interwebz today.
I think we’re going to be slightly in flux for the rest of the season. I expect a dip next week and the week after. But I think it will go back up slightly (probably to a 1.6/1.7 again) for 420 because you know they’ll really hit that Cora is returning

Zelena’s reception within the fandom is split. She does have a lot of fans, there’s no denying that, but of course she has plenty of haters too. From my observation, people who like the character are thrilled that she’s back, while those who hate her are the ones most annoyed that she’s back. How that will effect the ratings, only time will tell.

ParticipantI haven’t posted anything here in a long time because of a lack of excitement about the show but I’m still watching the show when I have time and I’m still a TV nut and was looking at ABC’s ratings across the channel so while OUAT seems to be a lock for S5 it’s looking like that may be it for the show but then I was looking at Grey’s Anatomy also on ABC -same timeslot different day GA is in its 11th season and is averaging 2.0-2.2 weekly but there’s a huge fatigue and talks of leaving from its lead actors. And while GA is also a lock for S12 a lot of people think it could be the last (this fan seriously hopes not) if that’s the case do you think ABC would let go of two of its most internet buzz worthy shows at the same time? Or would it not mean anything to the channel -I honestly think that it could

KeymasterOUAT will absolutely be renewed for S5. Beyond that please remember that GA and OUAT are two different types of drama. Mythology shows have a harder time going the distance like episodic or procedurals.

ParticipantIm not doubting a renewal Im doubting that it could be the last season If ABC pulls GA I think OUAT might stay on for s6 for the sheer fact that Abc may not want to loose to heavy hitters in the same year

That all depends on what ABC is eying for that TV seasons. If there is something they think could easily replace a Sunday 8pm show, and if OUAT’s rating keep doing what they are doing (slowly going down and then only making small strides up, only to fall again) they might risk it, especially since they’ll make money off selling the show to syndication.
There is no easy to predict S6 right now since we need S5 numbers. On the whole, I’d say unlikely since we’re already below other dramas that have been on longer. Also, keep the actors in mind. They have a 5 yr contract; so they say no, then it’s no.

ModeratorSeason 6 depends on the following
1) How much the ratings drop compared to last Season.
2) How the ratings fare compared to other ABC shows.
3) Contract negotiations between the actors. Like RG said, apparently the main cast from Season 1 signed 5 year contracts.
4) If they can get a syndication deal for a cable network to re-run Seasons 1-4. If ratings are good enough for ABC, they might see the value in having even more episodes to sell. Yes 100 episodes are typically the main goal for a syndication deal, but that doesn’t mean they can’t stretch more episodes for it if they find it feesable enough.I should note that Agents of SHIELD, another Disney synergy show with lots of special effects (in this case the Marvel Cinematic Universe), has a Season high of a 2.1 for the premiere, but a Season low of a 1.5. That’s roughly the same average as OUAT Season 4B. And yet, it is pretty much slated for a Season 3 renewal. I think if OUAT Season 5 can keep ratings in a similar range next Season, and the actors agree to sign on for more, then a Season 6 is likely. We can only theorize so much though, and we’ll only really be able to get a good idea when we actually have Season 5 ratings to look at.
