Final ratings for 417 are in. We adjusted up to a 1.7:

You can change a current a storyline ,add or kill a character, change publicity tactics, whatever you need to do free rein Also side note according to the promo for next week’s episode it seems like a lot of SQ bait which is a big fan favorite do I think we could see a rating boost maybe 1.7-1.8?
I could see having more content, like they do with the comics, to help fill out some storylines, or just have fun with character development. I love the idea of webisodes, and think those could provide some fun opportunities for both the writers and actors to play with characters a little more, especially if the episodes were on the lighter side. Whether these were to fill in the gaps between weeks or hiatus, smaller webisodes could be a nice way to keep people engaged between episodes.
Along those lines, with all the social media, there could be more opportunities to play around with Storybrooke itself too, kind of like the ads they had in the extras for the first season. Fun easter eggs or teasers for upcoming episodes through character tweets or SB small business ads could be really fun, and ways to reference some of the characters we haven’t seen for a while.
I also agree with PriceofMagic when it comes to one larger story arc for the season. One of the things I liked and miss about the first season was all the mystery surrounding everything – not knowing who was who, or who knew what. So much of season one felt like there was this much larger story to tell, and we were only seeing bits and pieces through the flashbacks, something that is again easier to do when you have the full season to explore. It was a fun ride, and I kind of hope it’s something they can get back to with the next season.

I think next week is the last week for a possible drop, as the finale always rises.

Agreed. Once again we’ve got a bit of split, but it seems to be about the episodes ending. Most seem to have enjoyed the episode UNTIL the big Zelena drop.

I’m sure plenty will still tune in to see how that plot point is resolved, since many suspect she’s faking. We really might have hit our floor for the Season, as the majority of the remaining viewers this late in the game are the dedicated ones. When there’s only 2 more weeks left of the Season, it seems more likely they’ll just stick around til the end. That’s not to say we won’t drop again next week, as I could see us possibly dropping back down to a 1.6 at the very most.
April 27, 2015 at 6:36 pm #302927nonnieParticipantI am not sure but I think we have dropped every year when DAY LIGHT SAVING TIME starts…. I know with our family we have activities at this time of the year right up til dusk. I make it a point to be in and done by 8pm but many times the rest of the family has other activities ( they catch up via DVD before next season or they stream).. I think this is true of a lot of families because all the stations have a drop in the spring with daily savings time.
Anybody else have thoughts on why there is a drop in the ratings ?

We’ve discussed it a lot in the past 10 pagds. Day light savings time does cause a ratings drops. But there are other factors. Go back to when DST began and read our commentary. Matt and I have provided ample reasons.
