On ABC, the season four premiere of Once Upon A Time scored a 3.4 adults 18-49 rating up 31 percent from a 2.6 for the season three premiere and up 48 percent from a 2.3 for the season three finale. Your predictions (and our poll choices) were far too pessimistic.

 

The season two premiere of Resurrection garnered a  2.2 adults 18-49 rating, down 42 percent from a 3.8 for the season one premiere (which aired last March) and up 5 percent from a 2.1 for the season finale.

 

The season four premiere of Revenge notched a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating, down 39 percent from a 2.3 for the season three premiere and even with the season three finale.

Sunday Night (9/28/14) – ABC Total Viewer and Adult 18-49 Projections
Once Upon A Time: Live + 3 = 12.4 million/4.5 rating and Live + 7 = 13.5 million/4.9 rating
Resurrection: Live + 3 = 9.8 million/2.9 rating and Live + 7 = 10.4 million/3.1 rating

Revenge:  Live + 3 = 7.5 million/1.9 rating and Live + 7 = 7.7 million/2.0 rating

Live: 3.4

Live+ Same/Next Day: 3.7

Let’s not worry about it falling yet. Let’s just take in the fabulous news that for this week at least we are BACK TO OUR FORMER GLORY! This is the best we’ve had since ‘Broken’ premiered!

I understand wanting to celebrate, but here’s what people need to remember: those numbers have pretty much nothing to do with how great S3 was or even how good S4 will be. Those are FROZEN numbers. Those numbers are based solely on the fact that Frozen came to ONCE. And if people don’t like what they saw on Sunday (and I’m hearing mixed reviews all around) then yes, they will fall. This isn’t back to former glory. This is an anomaly that is predicated on one singular factor and should that one singular factor go sour or be met with criticism then those numbers will return to where we left off. And this is to say nothing about the second half of S4 which is not Frozen.

Pretty much agree with the Frozen thing. Heck I have a friend who started watching ONCE just becaues she heard Frozen characters were in it, of course now she likes the show but Frozen was what got her into it.

First bit of ratings news for episode 402 “White Out”

Earlier in the evening on ABC was an encore of “Once Upon a Time” (#4: 1.8/ 3 at 7 p.m.) into a third-place 4.9/ 8 for the second episode of the new season at 8 p.m. Given the traditional pattern, that 4.9 in the overnights could come close to a 3-rating among adults 18-49, based on the Live Plus Same Day data.

This is overall shares, not the 18-49. It’s a fall, but I don’t know how this will show in the 18-49 yet.
