I read your essay and that in no way makes Rumbelle more palatable. I like Rumpel and Belle as characters and I think they could eventually be a good couple — they certainly have true love — but it’s a relationship built on lies and manipulation and that is distasteful.
Which brings me to my biggest issue with the OutlawQueen/Marian developments. They took a healthy relationship for both these characters; a second chance for two widowers and the one relationship (lover/friend/anything) that Regina has had in her life that wasn’t corrupted by her own fears or by the actions of others, and then they twisted it in the vilest way. And the worst part is, they’ve established them as soul mates. So either they end up together, because fate and all that, or Regina goes the rest of her life with a closed off heart, because how could she possibly open it up again.
This show sucks at relationships.

I was surprised they chose to do that to OutlawQueen. I’d been saying OQ needed obstacles, which is true, but I was thinking more along the lines of perhaps Roland didn’t like Regina so Regina had to work to win him over, or maybe Robin’s mother was in Storybrooke and didn’t approve of Robin’s choice of girlfriend, or Henry didn’t like Robin etc. Just something that OQ could work at to overcome. Even bringing Marian back could’ve worked out if they hadn’t so strongly implied that Marian’s death was on Regina’s orders.

I keep thinking about it and nothing adds up. Robin first said that Marian died because because he put her in harms way, though she was imprisoned by Regina because as Marian said she new where Snow White was hiding and yet Snow White and Robin Hood had never previously met before being in the Enchanted forest during that lost year that people didn’t remember. Robin couldn’t have meant having Marian with him caused her death because wouldn’t he feel the same way about Roland and yet he still had his son with him. In any case I don’t like triangles and I hope they resolve whether he stays with Regina or not rather quickly. The longer it last the more damage it will cause.
May 13, 2014 at 12:35 pm #269219truidiaParticipantI agree that the timeline of Marian’s imprisonment and death is missing a few details, but I’m not sure if we’ll ever get an answer because the original timeline is gone. No one remembers it. I’ve never watched Wonderland but tumblr referenced some time travel story lines. Have then established any time travel rules on Wonderland?
May 13, 2014 at 1:04 pm #269224PheeParticipantI think there’s a difference between knowing that someone did bad things to strangers, and knowing someone did bad things to someone you love. When it hits that close to home, it’s harder to overlook and/or forgive, so I’d expect to see that happen with Robin and how he looks at Regina once he learns that she had his wife in particular as a prisoner and was intending to execute her. Doesn’t really matter that it didn’t end up happening (in the altered timeline…I think it more than likely did happen in the original timeline, fate’s cruel way of eliminating the person standing between Regina and her fated soulmate), the fact was, it was her intent, and if I were in Robin’s shoes, I wouldn’t be able to look at Regina the same way again after learning this new information.

WL didn’t have time travel. They broke the laws of magic which dictate that you can’t bring someone back from the dead, can’t make someone fall in love, and can’t change the past, but there was no time travel.

Cut to Dr. Whale explaining to a grieving Robin “She died from a clot at the back of her brain”, and all eyes turn to Emma.
The episode could end with a “This season on Once Upon A Time” preview: Charming lying on a hospital bed, Whale telling Snow “He died from a clot in his brain”; Hook lying on a hospital bed, Whale telling Emma “He died from a clot in his brain”. Any other old head injuries?

I would find this extremely funny? A good way for Emma to learn cause and affect. Did you see the size of that tree branch? But seriously, they need to cut down the head traumas to a minimum. Blood clots are no joke 🙂
