So my husband practically cheered when Greg/Owen said his device was “science” and that it was better than magic. This reminds me of another squabble we’ve witnessed, between Whale and Gold. Should Gold fall victim to a similar trap (maybe GOAT gets Lacey to give him a booby trapped gift like a watch or something) it might be up to SCIENCE to save the day. It would be delicious payback for Gold to have to come to Whale in need of a scientific solution. Mwahahahaha….

Good thinking! This would give Dr. Whale to be a hero rather than a monster he believes himself to be.

Greg makes a reference to “metal”, I wonder if this has any connection to the traditional lore that iron is capable of restricting the magic (of fairies at least).

And supposedly silver bullets can kill werewolves. Ruby had better watch out.

I think this show might go into the direction that magic is just science undiscovered. That science is more powerful than magic in the sense, once you can explain it, it is no longer magic. So all the magic that is in FTL is explainable by science and GOAT are just somehow further along in science to not only explain it, but to stop it.

I am a nerd at heart.

If they don’t get Whale involved in this storyline somehow then it’s a seriously wasted opportunity. This stuff is right up his alley.

I had the same reaction the minute Greg said that line. This leads to something I was wondering–Greg’s life was saved by Dr. Whale. Does that mean Greg might consider someone who doesn’t have magic, who saved his life as potentially worth saving in return or approachable as an ally? That “kiss my boot” moment in the sneak peak might be going to come into play….what if Greg sees that, and approaches Whale….
Plus…it could go back to my pet theory which is most likely wrong–but GOAT’s organization may have been started by people from a magical realm, but they hide this from the lower ranked people. What if that could tie back to Whale’s world?

I agree! Bring on Dr. Whale! Surely Dr. Frankenstein could go against GOAT and whoever they work for (OMGold, tell me already!)

Its the romantic in me, but I would like to see Ruby be the reason Whale doesn’t just sell everyone out. 😉 He’s not from FTL really, so hard to say whether Greg would lump him in with the rest or not, and which side he would fall on. I think he’s bonded with the town folk enough to not work with GOAT, should GOAT approach him.
