They said in an interview that the theme of the end of this season is that all magic comes with a price. But Rumple told Whale that “whatever you traffic in, it comes with a price” in The Doctor, if I remember right.

So both science and magic are going to face off and there’s going to be a price for both?

I think so! And I think they showed that in In the Name of the Brother using science recklessly or in the name of good (but not in the practice of good) has consequences. Look at what happened to Whale and his family. He tried to control the natural forces of the universe and wound up with a dead father and a monster of a brother who probably died at some point (and we haven’t seen that story yet).

Well…there is that famous quote from Arthur Clarke that magic and science really are the same–“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” So makes sense there is a price either way!

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

I’m not thinking he comes into play much before the season ends but I sure hope he does a lot more next season. They would be ridiculous not to use his storyline with this current one. 🙂 I love explaining magic with science…like in The Sorcerers Apprentice.
