We initially assumed that there was only one shadow doing Pan’s doing, but after seeing the premiere tonight, I no longer believe that is the case. I think Pan has his own army of shadows, consisting of all the shadows torn from his victims. I also noticed that when Greg’s shadow was ripped, it looked completely identical to the shadow that attacked him. As long as they remain separated from their original host bodies, they are bound to do Pan’s bidding for all eternity. This would mean that Greg isn’t actually dead, but remains enslaved in his shadow form.

I agree. I think Greg is still alive, too. Now, Pan uses Greg’s shadow to control him similar to how Regina controlled Graham through his heart.

Having just rewatched, you’re right. Identical. And he carried it away, like some sort of creepy treasure.

The lost boys were about to kill Greg and Tamara, and maybe what we saw was the shadow rescuing what it could.

Interesting idea. Would certainly flip the typical notion of shadowy things being dangerous on its head.
The Shadow brought kids to NL though, so I still wanna say that its in cahoots with PP.
But something from the sneak peek for 302, PP tells Emma that he likes that she’s got fire, and he didn’t mean it in a literal sense, but I do wonder if perhaps it could be taken that way as well, given that we’ve seen that the Shadow doesn’t like fire, just one match made it drop Bae, so could PP be wanting to use Emma as a weapon to defeat the Shadow?

I can get on board with this theory, because I’ve been imagining for ages that Regina would be the one to kill Greg (that he’s the fave kill Lana mentioned at CC), so if he’s only kinda sorta dead, and is basically just gonna be a puppet who can be controlled by his shadow, then maybe the others will find his body, and he’ll get up and try to attack, and Regina will finish him off.

If he’s the good aspect, is PP ordering him around? Because the shadow did bring lots of kids to NL.

If he was supposed to NOT have a shadow, you’d think they wouldn’t have allowed there to be shots like those ones, yes?Soooooo, the Shadow isn’t PP’s shadow?

Options:
1) Bad lighting
2) The Shadow and Pan can separate and come back together and will
3) The Shadow is not PP’s

October 5, 2013 at 2:21 pm #214161ChrisParticipantI just did a little read up on some fairy tales that popped to mind featuring shadows.
One “The Shadow” by Hans Christian Andersen tells the story of a man who loses his shadow and the shadow later turns into a spitting image of the man, replacing him in the end. The ShadowWhat if the Peter we see as “human” is in fact the true shadow while the shadow is a degenerated form of the actual Peter Pan who tries to become his old self again.
I also like the theory that the shadow is ripping people’s souls out In many fairy tales shadows and souls are associated. In one “The lost grace”, a woman is so afraid of childbirth that the she goes to a witch to keep her from having any. She gives her seven stones and tells her that they would have been her children. The woman drops the stones into a well, doesn’t get children, but looses her shadow in the process. She saves her soul in the end by repenting and giving up her own life.
A variation of that theme can be found in Strauss’ opera “The woman without a shadow”, part of the plot ar an empress who is not human and doesn’t cast a shadow and a poor woman who sells her unborn children and her shadow for riches.
I’m curious how this whole shadow theme will come into play in future episodes.
