    Emma Swan’s gone evil.

The May finale of Once Upon a Time saw Storybrooke’s heroine sacrifice herself to the darkness. So what does season 5 hold for the bounty hunter/princess by birth? Star Jennifer Morrison says she and showrunners Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz are “creating a villain that has never existed” – with a little help from fairy tales of yore.

I’m really hoping it’s not “She’s the Dark One so she MUST be evil.” Rumple could have been good, but he CHOSE to go down the dark path with his powers. I’d think Emma would have more reserve over that.

This is intersting. Power corrupts and all that jazz and Emma is now in an extreme position of power. Dark Power. I don’t think the Dark Ones would have such a bad reputation if half of them had chosen the side of good rather than evil. I mean this is a power that allows you to simply snap your fingers and get whatever you want. I think ANYONE would become corrupted with such abilities. But then again, I don’t believe most humans are good on the inside, so maybe it’s just me.
Now, I don’t think Emma will just instantly become little miss satanico pandemonium, but I think with her powers she is going to start allowing herself to do things she couldn’t do before. She is going to just go with the flow and in this case, the flow is dark magic, so she’ll eventually become Dark. Can she be good? Yeah. Rumpel turned good (before they wrecked him). It just won’t be easy for her.

TL;DR: The Dark One magic probably makes anyone evil because its an immense power and power usually corrupts.

This is the part that stood out to me:

“She spent her whole life working so hard to overcome the hardships that she endured and to try to be the best version of herself and try to be strong and, ultimately, in the last few years, to try to be the savior that she is supposed to be stated to be,” she adds.

“And now she’s in a position where she is free of all of that and is facing all of the potential darkness that she has tried to avoid. So we will see what that means for her, and we’ll see how she grows and changes because of that,” she says. “We’re also going to see everyone in her life fighting to try to get her out of that place and help her overcome it.”

I’m hoping this will be Emma with no obligations or expectations. She will be free in a way she hasn’t been in 4 (5?) years. Plus, with incredible power. That sounds really intriguing.

Sounds like Emma wont WANT to give up the darkness.

I don’t think the darkness wants to give up Emma.

The dark one curse is like a parasite, it feeds off its host until there is nothing left or it finds a new host. It’s not going to just let Emma go on her merry way, it’s going to do all it can to keep Emma in its grasp.

I wish Neal was still alive on the show. The fact that he would have to go through this situation with Emma after having gone through it with Rumple, it’s a nice parallel.
