The picture not really being Henry was brought up way back when the season ended. The problem is that when you look at the drawing and then look at a picture of Jared Gilmore it is so CLEARLY Henry that it can’t be anyone else.

Yeah, I really think it’s Henry, too. If it were Rumple, then he would have recognized the connection to Henry after he first got his memories back when he heard Emma’s name. It would be like Gold would be looking at Henry and thinking , “Oh, there’s a young boy who looks exactly like I did as a lad. I bet it’s a coincidence.” As twisted as all the connections in this show are, he’d immediately become suspicious and start stealing hairs from Henry to do DNA tests. It really can’t be anyone else but Henry.

unless rumple doesn’t remember what he looked like as a lad and there are no pictures in ftl. Henry could be a genetic copy of his grandpa.

They did cast this show so that the family looks alike, but when you look at the two images it’s really hard to see anyone BUT Henry/Jared. Even though he does look like Rumple, he can’t be a genetic copy exactly because he has the Charming side to deal with.

you know the drawing is not exactly henry. I mean, it looks like him but has harsh lines – almost as if the artist was angry or the kid was not happy when drawn

and the charming family could have contributed to his looks but in very minor ways, while Rumpel could have given the lion’s share

If it’s not exactly Henry it’s because PP has never seen him before. Pretty sure PP has the sight and only saw Henry in a vision. But that picture is like 99.999999% percent Jared Gilmore.

you realize that Jared Gilmore can also play young rumple with some changes in his make-up and all

They could do that but I don’t know…playing RC playing Rumple. It’s a big task. And while Jared is growing as an actor I don’t know if he has the chops to play a young Rumple. One of the worries that many expressed when they announced PP was that he was too young, he couldn’t stand up against RC’s Rumple and not look amateur and slightly comical. It’s also utterly confusing to suddenly make Henry young Rumple. While we non-normal viewers would be able to follow, we always have to keep the average viewer in mind. Could they follow that line of thought without becoming confused? I don’t know. It’s asking a lot from an audience when you’re already giving your own spin on such classic stories as PP and NL. I’m not saying there aren’t parallels between Rumple and PP but that’s good storytelling and really just how myth works: archetypes and tropes and similarities. I think it’s a bit much to make Rumple a young PP too.

The scene they shot of YoungRumple and his father that ended up on the cutting room floor, they cast a separate actor to play him. If you look at a pic of Robert when he was Jared’s age, the resemblance is almost creepy, but like RumplesGirl said, it’d only serve to create confusion for casual viewers if all of a sudden Jared was playing YoungRumple as well as Henry, so I really don’t think they’d do that. There’s been nothing to suggest, in the show or in interviews with K&H, that the kid in the picture is anyone but Henry.

Yes every time someone brings up the picture and S3, A and E always refer to the picture as Henry and say stuff like, “You’ll find out why PP wants Henry.”
