So after going back and re-watching the episodes yet AGAIN because now my 10 year old son wants to get in on the fun, something made me look up a nursery rhyme. Emma told MM that she didn’t tell Henry the truth about his father but I found it odd that she told him that his father complained that the diner she worked at didn’t serve pumpkin pie. I mean, that seems like a rather strange made-up detail, so I assumed that part was the truth. It reminded me of the Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater nursery ryhme – only I didn’t know the rest of the ryhme so I looked it up and WOW. Someone had mentioned in another thread that when MM and Emma were talking about how MM should had known better than to get involved with a married man she seemed to be speaking from experience. Well here’s the whole nursery rhyme:
Peter, Peter, pumpkin eater,
Had a wife but couldn’t keep her;
He put her in a pumpkin shell
And there he kept her very well.Peter, Peter, pumpkin eater,
Had another and didn’t love her;
Peter learned to read and spell,
And then he loved her very well.Besides the fact that I find it very interesting that this nursery rhyme seems to address what appears to be Emma’s situation with how she became pregnant with Henry – the creepiest part is that it talks about how Peter learned to “read and spell and then he loved her very well.” That seems to hint at a BOOK or an author!!! Like maybe AWB!! Now I don’t know how on earth that would make sense since you would think that Emma would remember Henry’s father but maybe it has something to do with Wonderland?? Maybe somehow Emma doesn’t recognize him and the ryhme refers to the fact that AWB has learned to understand what the book entails and how Emma and Henry are involved and how he is therefore involved so he realized it was also part of his destiny to go to Storybrook and help them so now he will love her. So maybe when he told her about the well he knew about it based the book not really based upon the plaque. And maybe he had her drink the water because the something she lost that was going to be returned to her was HIM.

But maybe the idea of nursery rhymes fitting in will be confirmed in some episode. O my, the places my mind will take off to then… 😆 Thanks for writing out the idea.

You only need to mark-up the text you want to put in the spoiler-tag and press the spoiler button! You can also simply write (with the brackets!!) at the beginning of the spoiler part and at the end!
Klicking on the button is much simpler. 😉 The button is up there where you can also format the text.About the nursery rhyme: really cool!! Funnily enough I also had the idea of August being Henry’s father. I mean, it’s been 10 years, maybe he changed so much Emma doesn’t recognize him anymore (doubtful, and yet …)?

Trying to figure out the link with pumpkins. It seems like Emma is related to pumpkins somehow. There is the pumpkin pie reference when she was telling Henry about his dad. But during The Price of Gold, Henry suggests to Emma that they pick code names for each other for Operation Cobra. At the end of the episode, Emma suggests using “Pumpkin” for her code name “in honor of Cinderella”.
Henry actually shoots down this suggestion, stating he has another name in mind for Emma but says he doesn’t think she is ready for it yet.So anyway, I’ve been mulling over why seems to really like pumpkins. Google for “swan and pumpkins” shows several pumpkin farms around the country named Swam Pumpkin farm. Or the thought of a swan shaped pumpkin pops in my head.
Probably I’m micro analyzing something that’s not even significant but just decided to post my thoughts.March 2, 2012 at 3:44 pm #138036malchoreParticipant@sjm wrote:

OMG! So that’s who the Blue Fairy is in Storybrooke. For the longest time I didn’t know if Blue Fairy actually came over with the curse, or who she was if she did.
Sorry to have side-tracked this thread. I never noticed those two pumpkin references associated to Emma before. Nice find!

We have recently found out that August is Pinocchio and there seems to be at a least a little indication that there could be an Emma/August romance, but Emma has only lived in the non-magical world. Wouldn’t she recognize Henry’s father?
