1) Where did Emma go?

Either the DO vault or Camelot, I suppose.

2) What is Merlin’s backstory?

Considering that in the original story he is sired by an incubus, I’d love to know who daddy dearest will be in OUAT.

I’m not sure about the origin story, but I’m going to guess that Merlin is currently entombed/imprisoned somewhere (by whoever stands in for Niviane) — and this is why he’s never seen, and only shows up as a column of blue and red smoke. Now, wouldn’t it be a hoot if Niviane were the Blue Fairy?

3) Will we see Arthur/Guienvere/Lancelot?

The first two, yes. Lancelot only in passing or briefly mentioned.

4) Who was the original Dark One?

Whoever was the lucky person Merlin tethered the original darkness to. Total crackpot: Keeping with Arthurian legend, how about Mordred? Then, as he betrays Arthur, and is slain by him, Arthur becomes the next DO. It’s preposterous in terms of timeline, but that’s never stopped A&E before

5) Who will have control of Emma’s dagger?

I would like it to be Henry. Or the Charmings. But I think it’ll probably be Hook. Although it might at some point be stolen by Lily to enact her plans for revenge against the Charmings, and also to tie in that plot line with her search for her father.

6) Will we see Zelena again? Will we see August again? Will we see Ursula again?

Yes, Maybe, No. I think Zelena will die in childbirth, thus reconciling with Regina at the last moment (the price of fertility vs the price of infertility and all that sort of universe balancing itself out creepiness). Then Zelena is out of the picture, and the problem for OQ is solved.

August might show up for two seconds to further the plot.

We will never see or hear of Ursula ever again. *sigh*

7) Will we other lands besides the EF and (maybe) Camelot?

Avalon? Faery?

8) Who is Lily’s father?

Merlin. Who was probably stuck in dragon form through some kind of magical  plot device, and hence doesn’t actually remember fathering Lily.

9) Will Rumple wake up? When?

If he does, it will probably be midway through the season.

10) Will Henry get a new quill?

Nope. And the fact that he’s the new author will never be mentioned again.

11) Is the Apprentice dead?

As a doornail.

 

12) How will the SB gang find Emma?

They will try to summon Emma and find that for some inexplicable reason it doesn’t work. They will then figure out some way to follow the “tether” between Emma and the dagger, which will point to where she is. We will then be introduced to yet another magical way to travel between the realms that we had no idea about, and off they go. The Scooby gang will consist of Hook, Regina, Robin, Henry, and maybe Charming. The rest will stay in SB.

I wonder if Lily will have any sort of draw to the dagger given her “darkness” and if Merlin is her father and he created it…she might feel a pull toward it.

I am also going to bet this here:
Cora knows/has met the Sorcerer and used his staff to protect herself against the curse in a deal that had something to do with her interactions with the REAL Lancelot.
A&E kind of hinted Lancelot isn’t dead (they said something along the lines of “Don’t believe everything Cora says” during an interview when aske about it, I remember) and the actor also said his character would be back (before Adam said he wasn’t but whatever, gotta keep important plot lines safe, right?). Anyway, we know nothing can escape the Dark Curse, but Cora had some random mysterious staff that…escaped the Dar Curse. Wizards commonly carry big staffs, so who is to say Merlin doesn’t. I think she made some kind of deal. “I give you Lancelot, you let me escape the curse!” and Merlin gave her his staff.
Or something.

I think she’s still hiding in Storybrooke somewhere.

He was born with powers. His parents hated magic. When they found out that he had magic, they became pretty much like every other parent on this show and physically and mentally abused him.

3) Will we see Arthur/Guienvere/Lancelot?

Yes.

4) Who was the original Dark One?

Arthur.

5) Who will have control of Emma’s dagger?

Hook.

6) Will we see Zelena again? Will we see August again? Will we see Ursula again?

Zelena definitely. August maybe. Ursula not at all.

Oz, Wonderland (Hoping for a Will back story to take place there and we finally find out what happened to Ana).

Merlin.

Yes. Episode 2 or 3.

No. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if the writers forget that he’s the new author now that the entire ‘hunting for the author’ storyline is over.

Yes, unfortunately. But we’ll still see him in Merlin flashbacks.

If my theory is right and she is still in Storybrooke, she’ll end up going to them.

We’ve all had a little over a week to digest the S4 finale and S4 as a whole; it’s also going to be another month or so until tiny tidbits start leaking and then even a little bit more until filming of 5 begins. So, while we wait: it’s time to see where we all stand headcanon wise for S5.

1) Where did Emma go?
TO the DARK ONE training school… TPTB know she is white magic and they want to be sure she knows she switched sides. BLUE FAIRY has a lot of work cut out to teach her to be bad…. EMMA is resistent.

2) What is Merlin’s backstory?

MERLIN had another showdown with MADAM MIM and this time she triumphed and stuffed him into a fountain.

3) Will we see Arthur/Guienvere/Lancelot?

LANCELOT.. THAT ship has sailed.. he has died ? KILLED by Cora.
ARTHUR ….. I would like that especially if he is YOUNG and HOT.
Guinevere ….. She is a bit of a loosey goosey she could be LACEY’s bff.

But really isn’t GALAVANT ENOUGH to portrait the Camelot legends?

Either her parents will take the sword and protect her…. OR … HOOK WILL… THEN THEY CAN HAVE LOTS OF HOOKER BABIES.

UNfortunately we are stuck with ZELENA till we know for sure IF she is PG…. at least for 5B. After that who knows

URSULA is being a daddy’s girl and I do not think she is coming back … unless ARIEL is unavailable and they need some ocean message service. But daddy is training her to run the kingdom so he can retire.

In the first or second episode of 5A … The gang needs his smarts as he lived for 300 years and learned a lot about magic. BESIDES I do not see A&E paying BOBBIE just to lay around and look half dead.

After the SORCERER gets released from the fountain.

11) Is the Apprentice dead?
Yup… he sure looked DEAD AS A DOOR NAIL

12) How will the SB gang find Emma?

HENRY ever the bright boy… realizes he needs the pen and takes the nib and writes a story that has a doorway to anywhere he needs to go. Just enough ink in the nib for one sentence.

I agree with most others in that she will probably be with Merlin, whether that’s in Camelot, the Enchanted Forest, or otherwise I’m not quite sure. I imagine for the first episode we will get Merlin’s intro and some of his backstory tying things in with what’s currently going on in Storybrooke, and at the very end of the episode we’ll get the present day Merlin with the new Dark One at his side.

I could see the Once twist being that Merlin is a woman. Perhaps the darkness was a former partner/teacher/lover(?) that turned dark, became an entity onto itself, and in order to protect everyone from the darkness Merlin tethered it to the dagger and perhaps banished them to another land (Enchanted Forest).

3) Will we see Arthur/Guienvere/Lancelot?

I’m hoping so! I think with so much uncertainty over Lancelot’s death there is a strong possibility we’ll be seeing him again. Arthur being a lead character in the Merlin/Camelot story I would certainly hope we’d see him, and Guienvere would be fun, though I’d be curious as to what they’d do with her character, hopefully one of those good, Oncey twists.

4) Who was the original Dark One?

If not some already established person connected to Merlin in some way, I could see it being more of an entity that had to be harnessed, giving it personification. Who was that first person it was attached to? Perhaps an earlier apprentice? Or did Merlin somehow inadvertently attach it to someone close to them, effectively destroying that relationship and setting both indivisuals on a dark path (that is if Merlin is the actual big bad of the season)?

5) Who will have control of Emma’s dagger?

For many reasons I could see it being Hook, but it could also just be in the Charming Family loft since so many tend to gather there anyway. I agree though that having a more powerful magic wielder guarding it would make more sense, so I can also see the arguments for Regina. I could also see the combo of Regina doing some protection spell on the loft where it’s being held.

6) Will we see Zelena again? Will we see August again? Will we see Ursula again?

Zelena for sure with the whole preggers issue, but I really hope we see August more. I love his character, and was a little disappointed he wasn’t more involved with the last arc given his return, but I think they kept him an adult in order for him to be more useful with future stories. Would be fun to see Ursula too – Not ruling anything out, but if they are focussed on the sorcerer and camelot, I don’t know if they’d have much room for her character, unless perhaps she is able to help transport the gang from Storybrooke to wherever Emma is? They kept her on good terms with the group (especially with Hook) in the end for a reason, would be great if we could see more of that resulting relationship.

7) Will we other lands besides the EF and (maybe) Camelot?

Perhaps, if only for exposition of other characters. We also still have Zelena, so Oz would be fun to explore again. Maybe in 5B we’ll have a chance to explore a new realm entirely.

8) Who is Lily’s father?

I like the Arthur idea, especially with Blue’s vague comment about the gender of the sorcerer, my crack theory is that the Once twist will be Merlin is actually a woman. I could see them doing this with Arthur though too…But with the previous uncertainty of the identity of the Sorcerer, I’d lean more towards that twist with lots of Once style parallels between Merlin and Emma.

9) Will Rumple wake up? When?

I thought I had read somewhere that there was going to be more of a time jump for the opening of season 5? If this is the case, I could see Rumple either coming out of the magic coma sometime during the time jump and we see how he has been struggling with his new role in the town, or coming out of it very early on in the first or second episode.

10) Will Henry get a new quill?

Crack theory: if the Apprentice really is dead, perhaps Henry becomes the new Apprentice? Could work really nicely if Merlin is actually the big bad and is defeated by Emma in the end, Henry being Emma’s apprentice could be a nice full-circle to the story.

11) Is the Apprentice dead?

I’m so uncertain about this. Based on spoilers for the finale I want to say he is dead, but I thought they left it open enough in the episode that I’m wondering if he’ll play more of a role in this next arc (though I could totally see a vague opening scene with Merlin and the Apprentice (starting Merlin’s backstory), giving the sense that it could be taking place in the present, but then the next scene makes it clear that no, it was in fact a flashback). To go along with my earlier theory, if he is alive, but perhaps dies in this next arc, that would be another opportunity for Henry to possibly fill that role, especially if Emma does defeat Merlin and takes the mantle as Sorcerer. (we did have an off-hand comment in 4A of “I know I’m not sorceress of the year,” could have been a tiny bit of foreshadowing? Much like the dagger comment?)

12) How will the SB gang find Emma?
Agreed that the Jolly is back for a reason, and as I mentioned earlier, with Hook and Ursula now being on good terms, perhaps she would help them take the Jolly wherever they need to go. I also wonder though, if after going through obstacles to summon Emma, plot device finally allows the summons to work (probably something to do with Merlin wanting to reach Storybrooke) and Emma comes to the group.
