‘Please’ – Does it still work?

Okay, so we learned in episode 2 that Rumpelstiltskin told the Evil Queen what she needed to do to enact the curse, but in the real world, she had to obey his every request as long as he said ‘Please?’ 😆 😀

Now, that the curse is broken? Is Rumpelstiltskin’s ‘Please’ still valid? Does it still work?

Then again, Rumpelstiltskin brought magic to Storybrooke in the finale, so maybe ‘please’ still works but Emma broke the curse…I’m so confused right now 😕

I have never thought that Regina has to obey Rumpel, as in she is compelled to the moment he says please, but rather that that was the agreement so she must choose to honor the agreement or if she doesn’t then some magical price will fall on her. Who knows though.

I am hoping that it is gone because it causes all sorts of issues. If Regina is compelled to do what Rumpel says then all he has to do is say stand there while i kill you please or go turn yourself into Emma and let her deal with you please. It seems like it could be an issue now that they have magic again especially if Rumpel still can’t leave town.

I think the “please” claus is gone. But I guess Rumpel doesn’t really need it now that he has his powers back.

Yeah, it’s got to be gone, gone with the purple wind. It was part of Regina’s bargain in exchange for info about the curse, so I’m sure Regina would toss it into the same trash bin with her bargain to Jefferson. Rumple never made any significant use of it, so I doubt if he’ll press the issue.

BUT Rumple always gets even with people who break their deals with him… so maybe HE would get even with REGINA … there was no time limit on the deal.

The ‘please’ was a condition of the curse, knowing how to enact it but Rumpel being Rumpel, there’s probably some loophole where he can still use it against Regina.

Rumple does not need it anymore whether it works or not because she’s beaten. That clause was mainly to keep her in check. He needs not check her anymore.

This is my reasoning, too. It was part of the curse, but Rumplestiltskin’s request was “in this new land.” So maybe it still applies beyond the curse.

Perhaps we’ll see Rumple/Mr. Gold try to use “please” but it have no effect in season two.

I never thought of the “please” as being magically binding.

When Gold is in jail and ask Regina to PLEASE sit, she sits down with her own free will. Yes, she made a deal with Rumple that she would listen to him whenever he says please, but that does not mean she didn’t have a choice to break that deal.

And yes because of the wording use, I think Regina still has to obey when Gold uses the word please even if they now remember being in FTL, they are still in the new land.

I agree that i never considered the please as magically binding either. It was more that Regina could choose to keep the deal or she could choose not to and then suffer some sort of magical consequences.
