We probably won’t get it until next summer, like this year. It airs as PBS Masterpiece (I have the urge to say Masterpiece Theater but the Theater got chopped off years ago).
Masterpiece usually airs certain things at certain times of the year so I predict next June for season two for us in the States.

June 6, 2016 at 12:55 pm #324631RumplesGirlKeymasterIt’s bittersweet news for Poldark fans – the release of the second series has been pushed back by six months, but star Aidan Turner has given a heavy hint that a third series is all but guaranteed.
Ross, Demelza and Elizabeth will not return to TV screens until autumn (2016) more than a year after the dramatic end of the first series. However, while that may be an inconvenience to viewers, on the upside, the second series will now have ten episodes, two more than the first.

Which means America won’t have it until much later—possibly spring or summer 2017?

"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"September 28, 2016 at 12:28 pm #327887RumplesGirlKeymasterOh! I finally got around to watching episode 1 of S2 (why must Poldark be on at the same time as OUAT?!)
It was a 2 hour episode so I don’t have one of my long analytical posts for this but it was such a solid opening for the second year. Mostly, I love the contrast the show is setting up (or at least continuing) between Francis and Ross (and by extension, in their marriages with Elizabeth and Demelza). Whereas Francis almost takes his own life instead of face any consequences of his mistakes or even to own finally standing up to Warleggy (hey, I remembered nicknames!), Ross refuses to back down and admit defeat. His speech in court about why it’s better to take the flotsam of a ship than to give it to those who are only interested in profit…powerful. Speaking of contrasts, the final night between R and Demelza vs F and Elizabeth speak volumes. One is beautiful and loving; one is about as cold as it gets. This is highlighted in the couples goodbyes as well.
A few other strong points
–Demelza is pregnant! But Ross doesn’t want another baby yet
–Warleggy’s Checkov’s Gun by his bedside table–yeah, that’ll come into play
–Also, will Francsis’s suicide attempt be revisited??
–Caroline is new and rather hilarious
–Cute dog
–Still with the breathtaking shots of Cornwall
–Also, still with the gorgeous pretty prettyness that is Aiden Turner as shirtless Ross

But I second all of what you wrote RG. I’ll also just say that it’s going to be an interesting yet also tense season, especially for those who love Ross and Demelza.

October 4, 2016 at 5:58 pm #328236RumplesGirlKeymasterI just finished episode 3 of S2. Wow–I never thought the day would come when Francis and Elizabeth look like the healthier of the two couples. Ross and Demelza really had each other’s back during the trial but the realities of life set back in once Ross is cleared. I must admit, I found Ross a bit…tiresome in the episode. I understand he’s under enormous financial strain but he was quite gruff with Demelza; add in the flirtatious and suggestive nature of his private conversation with Elizabeth and the almost lack of enthusiasm for news of a new child and I had my eyebrows raised quite a bit during this episode. I’m honestly not quite sure what to make of Ross; he’s right that all men and women glance at the opposite sex now and then but there was something more than innocent flirtation with Elizabeth. And with all the weighted history behind Ross and Elizabeth, my heart broke from Demelza hearing them outside the door.
At least I can still hate on Warleggy–though can we take a moment to appreciate how silly he looked boxing?
The Judd plot line was a bit too ridiculous for me even if it did provide some ample humor.
Caroline is clearly going to upset life in the little hamlet sooner rather than later. Poor Doctor.
The harvest had some gorgeous costumes, especially Elizabeth’s, and I like how they displayed some of the agrarian traditions (like Francis and his chant)

While Elizabeth has gown on me, I still don’t like her nearly as much. Elizabeth has some good qualities, and she has grown as a person. Without giving away too much, the person who has surprised me the most this season has been Francis.

October 10, 2016 at 4:39 pm #328524RumplesGirlKeymasterEpisode 4 of S2 made me cry. So many reunions that felt so deep and meaningful. I used to hate Francis and while I haven’t quite forgiven him all his sins, going into business with Ross and putting the shares in his child’s name for both protection of his family and Ross’s business was touching. Add in his acceptance of Verity and the Sea Captain and Francis gets a huge gold star this week.
Ross continues to…tire me, is the best way I can put it. I loved some of his moments this week; beating up Warleggy (more on him in a moment) got a round of applause from me but he’s taking some unnecssary risks in the name of financial security and making Demelza suffer which I cannot abide. However, he’s still so dashing and headstrong and caring that I can almost totally forgive his reckless moments. Carrying Demelza off the boat, both of them threatening the other, that’s a real couple. Love need not be so heady and epic; it’s the smaller moments like both of you screaming at the other and know that it’s done out of love, concern and care . Also, baby!
Warleggen. My god. I hate him. Maybe it’s the current American political climate and everything that happened this weekend in our election cycle that makes me rather sensitive to male demands of women but when Warleggy basically demands that Elizabeth prostitute herself to him (renewed intimacies that grow over time!!) I about had a fit. Good for Elizabeth putting her self respect and her body and her choice over any security in her family’s financial situation. Unlike Ross, she’s not willing to take such reckless measures.
