This seems as good a place as any for this particular musing, but I went back and watched the flashback bits of “Manhattan”. At the end, the seer’s words are a little different than I’ve been remembering them.
“You will be reunited with your son and it will come in a most unexpected way.”
“How?”
“A boy, a young boy will lead you to him. But beware Rumplestiltskin, he is more than he appears. he will lead you to what you seek. But there will be a price; the boy will be your undoing.”I like to poke at the way particular things are phrased, especially in a show like this because the writers are quite clever about things like word choice and hidden meanings. I’m wondering now if the Seer was talking about two different things. The boy (I think we’re all agreed this is Henry) will lead Rumple to both his son and “what he seeks”. I realize Rumple was preoccupied with his search for Bae, but it’s interesting to ponder what else he could be seeking. Seeing how the character has evolved and his internal conflict in Storybrooke with Belle/Lacey and trying to “be good” maybe the Seer was referring to something Rumplestiltskin would be seeking in the future- something he didn’t even know he would want when she made her prediction. Maybe “what he seeks” will actually *be* his undoing, in a manner of speaking.

May 1, 2013 at 7:17 pm #190461PriceofMagicParticipantSince we know Snow and Charming were still attracted to each other as MM and David Nolan as true love trying to over come the curse, is it possible that Rumple and Belle may still have ended up together as Lacey and Mr Gold?
Lacey had heard of Mr Gold’s reputation, it was Rumple that had tried to be good. Once he went back into being dark, or being the Mr Gold Lacey had heard about, she was attracted to him.

If their love is true love and I believe it is then this would have to be true

May 4, 2013 at 8:49 pm #191054PriceofMagicParticipant1) I think, because the poison was already taking effect by the time Rumple got back to Storybrooke, Rumple couldn’t use his powers. He was dying and his name was fading off the dagger. Once Snow killed Cora, Rumple immediately got his powers back because the poison was no longer in his system.
2) I think Rumple did ask Bae to stay outside. He knew exactly where to find Milah which suggest Rumple has retrieved her from the tavern before. Rumple wouldn’t know what state to find Milah in so he wouldn’t want Bae to see his mother worse for wear or canoodling with another man.

I just re-watched that scene, coincidentally. He did want Bae to stay out of the bar. Bae just snuck into the bar. Rumple was genuinely surprised when Bae showed up. I think Milah was too, which suggested that it has happened before.
I’m assuming that Milah had many meet-ups at the bar with Hook and his crew in order to fall in love with him and want to leave with him. I don’t think she would want to leave in one encounter. At least, I am hoping Milah has more will power than that.
Speaking of Milah, anyone wonder if there will be more of a backstory with her in season 3? It’s too easy to hate her with the way she has treated Rumple, but I wonder if there is more behind the scenes with her character and story arc than we know just yet. I also would like to see how she was as a pirate.

When she arrives in time to save him in “The Crocodile” she says to Rumple that she can explain………“That first night, when Killian and his crew came into the tavern, he told stories about the places he’d been. And I fell in love with him.”

Ahh, I didn’t catch that. Thanks for clarifying. I guess it was one encountering. Thanks Gypsy!

May 4, 2013 at 10:55 pm #191075PriceofMagicParticipantCould be, or perhaps the night we saw Milah in the tavern wasn’t the first night she’d been there with Killian.
When the woman knocked on Rumple’s door telling him Milah had been kidnapped, she said “the men who came into port last week” had taken Milah. Being pirates, it is likely their first stop would’ve been the local tavern and since Milah seemingly spent most of her time there, it is highly likely Hook and Milah had spent time together there.
Milah may have fallen in love with Hook “that first night” but she probably wanted to make sure it was love and not a crush. After a week, and still feeling the same about him, she probably then decided to leave with him.
Milah isn’t the type to risk losing the roof over her head for something she couldn’t trust was real. Rumple provided for Milah, if she’d left Rumple for a short lived fling then she would’ve ended up homeless or worse, she would’ve had to beg Rumple to take her back. I doubt adultery would’ve been held in high regard so she would’ve been known as the adultering wife of a coward.
