And shows that only have around 12 episodes for the first season are usually shows that start half way through the normal season because another show was cancelled.

Yup, or that don’t get full season orders (Front 13, Back 9 etc). And of course, this is only network. Cable is completely different.

Basically, as a typical and successful US network show, sometime in July would be a typical start date, we should expect to get 22 episode seasons (give or take a couple), the show will probably start airing late September/early October, and there will be multiple hiatuses each season.

When I was a fan of Heroes, I heard that it takes about ten days to produce a weekly episode. But starting a season probably takes a lot more for the first few episodes.

Isn’t that about normal? They get about three or four months off and then start filming again.

It’s less than that. The show finishes it’s intital season mid May and resumes filming mid July. They’ve all but wrapped by this point, but there’s still post production to do, ADR and such. This is assuming there is no ‘secret scene’ that they’re keeping the wings. It’s nt as bad as a full day of filming, but it can wear on you. Figure two months, if that.

It’s even worse for teh writing staff and showrunners. I don’t think these two ever stop working, but they have a lot to do. Plus, it helps to have a script when you start filming.

I think the actors have been off for two or three weeks now though. And will be resuming mid July that it about 3 and a half months. I agree though the production is still working on the last four episodes and the writers might be working on Season 2 by now though maybe not full on yet.

What I dont get is why its taking so long for the official renewal announcement? I mean its beaten a couple of shows rating wise that have already been renewed for a 2nd season!!! I mean most people see it as a given its getting a 2nd season, but oats an official announcement would be nice to ease any doubts & so we know if it’s going to have a conclusion or not!

I think, maybe we will hear an official announcement, if not after the finale, maybe before Comic Con?

It seemed like they were prepping to give an early announcement, but if we don’t get one, I think we should find out at the ABC upfronts (May 15th). But I wouldn’t be surprised if they come out and announce it in the next couple of weeks.

Well, May 15th isn’t too far away. Hopefully, ABC announces it early.

As I said sunday in the chatroom, Jennifer Morrison came to Brazil to promote Once Upon A Time and, during a press conference she just let out that Once were renewed for season 2, although the official confirmation is just gonna be next week in the ABC upfronts!

Hope you all like the news and is excited as I am!
