What I mean is that Henry would have known who Gold was: Rumplestiltskin, nothing to do with his family, but he would have known that Gold was Rumple and the Dark One but he tells Emma that he can’t figure out who Gold is.
Mr. Gold: Hey, Henry. How are you?
Henry: Okay?
Mr. Gold: Good. Give my regards to your mother. And, um, good luck, Miss Swan.
(Mr. Gold leaves.)
Henry: Do you know who that is?
Emma: Yeah, course I do.
Henry: Who? Cause I’m still trying to figure it out.
He knows who Ruby and Ella are because they are in the book and he’s read it. He hadn’t figured out that Ashely is Cinderella until her situation is pointed out, but he instantly figures out that she’s Ella. Same with Red/Ruby.
Rumple is in the book, but as a character in other people’s story: like in Ella’s story about the quill which was the first time we learned that Rumple was in the book *at all* for sure. And his ability to see the future is in the book, but that’s in the Snow/Charming story that we saw in the Pilot.
Rumple’s situation of being the Dark One manifests in our world as Gold being the most powerful man in town and if the story of the Dark One was in the book, Henry would have put 2 and 2 together. He’s very smart.
And I think this quote from Manhattan shows that Henry didn’t know about the circumstances surrounding Bae’s departure, which I think singles that the story of the Dark One isn’t in the book.Henry: You know… I forgave her. Emma – for giving me up. She thought it was the best for me then. That’s why she did it. I’m sure your son will get it, too.
Mr. Gold: Alas, the circumstances surrounding our separation weren’t quite so noble

Since August is a writer he might have reseached fairy tale stories or his comment about a fairy told could be true too but it wasn’t in the book and as RG stated that Henry had a hard time figuring out who Gold was.
Yes, the BF did do the the adoption as nuns usually do handle adoptions in the old days.
May 24, 2013 at 3:06 pm #195968RumplesGirlKeymasterYes, “a little fairy told me” is a line that makes me beat my head against a desk now that we know Blue didn’t have her memories. My money is on Tink. I think Tink’s in our world and working for THO over here.
And yes, I think Mother Superior helped with the adoption because that’s what nuns do.
**EDIT**
I’ve gone through every up close screen cap of the book when it appears and I cant’ find any image that might be the dagger or the story of Rumple so now I’m really curious what you think you saw….and it’s going to drive me nuts. Looks like I have a project for today. 😆
The only image of the dagger was the page August had on his desk and it was not a part of the book when we saw it, so unless he ripped it from the book…..ugh.My eyes hurt.

We’ll have to disagree on that point with Henry, because his thoughts & feeling on the issues of abandonment are totally clouded by his on feelings- like when he talked with Jefferson (we all know he was right of course)- but he only thinks about how much he WANTED his parents in his life- he forgets he pushed Regina out in favor of Emma, because she was still around wanting him- yet he doesn’t register the difference. He only knows Rumples son loved him, when he went down the portal- he doesnt think ‘oh he might not feel the same as I do’ & therefore not want his parent back, he simply assumes that Rumples son like him WANTS his father in this life.
Yes, he is smart, but at the end of the day he is still only 10/11 & was living in the fuzz of the curse for those 10/11yrs- remember he tried to blow up magic with dynamite, bunked school, grabbed the steering wheel & caused a car to go off the road etc- he is still a kid & as I said, he was focused on his family more so than anyone else- it’s entirely possible that Rumples story was more obscure/harder to crack because he wasn’t the typical little imp creature he usually is & looks very different in FTL than in SB. Most the other stories in there are all iconic FTL ones- as David pointed out remembering alice in wonder land from his cursed self.May 24, 2013 at 3:24 pm #195973RumplesGirlKeymasterI think you and I may have reached the point of no return. 😆
Let’s forget about Henry and stick with what’s in the book. Given what we’ve seen inside the book–images and text–thus far I cannot find anything that looks like the dagger and Rumple’s story of becoming the Dark One.
The one time we’ve seen a drawing of the dagger was in the Return and was not, at that point in time, in the book
And we don’t know if that came from the book or not. And we don’t know how August knew about it, though he claims it’s a fairy.Mr. Gold: How do you know about this knife?
August: I hear things.
(Mr. Gold points the dagger at August, until he ends up backed up against a tree.)
Mr. Gold: No one here knows about this knife.
August: No one here remembers.
Mr. Gold: And, yet, you do. You’re from there, aren’t you? From my world.
August: The fact that you’re asking the question means you know the answer.
Mr. Gold: Well, now that that’s settled…
(Mr. Gold lunges at August, pinning him against the tree behind him. He holds the dagger to his throat.)
Mr. Gold: How about my other question? Who told you about me and the knife?
August: A little fairy.
But notice that Rumple here knows about the dagger, those that did no longer remember. That doesn’t include Henry as his memories were never wiped, so if it was in the book, he would have known.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 24, 2013 at 3:26 pm #195974HappyEndingsSpectatorI have to disagree with you Surayya, 1st of all Henry was 10 not 9, and kids can tell if they are being loved or not Regina didn’t really love Henry like a normal parent did and of course you would look some where else for that love that you are missing.
Henry, figure out Red and that was kind of tough I thought also David with the Scar on the face Henry is very smart even MM said that to Emma and Regina at the school that Henry was very smart but very lonely.
I still think the BF saved her memories like Gold did but didn’t disclosed that fact to either protect Henry or something else why would the BF know that Gold hated the nuns so much and why was the BF clever when replying to Gold about August asking him what he wanted.

I think I need a drink.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 24, 2013 at 4:46 pm #195978KebParticipantAdam said Blue didn’t have her memories, and yeah, that squished a lot of theories. The only indication of Rumple’s origin story being in the book is the fact that Bae IS in the book. Of course, I wonder when Rumple found out about the book; I assume he might know about it at this point, but did he know during the curse? (Probably. Man knows everything.)
Keeper of Belle's Gold magic, sand dollar, cloaks, purple FTL outfit, spell scroll, library key, copy of Romeo and Juliet, and cry-muffling pillow, Rumple's doll, overcoat, and strength, and The Timeline. My spreadsheet: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6r8CySCCWd9R0RUNm4xR3RhMEU/view?usp=sharing

I know they said that but that doesn’t mean she didn’t required them back like Rumple did some how. Plus the BF being clever with her reply to Gold on why August was there in town and since the BF stated that she had to get prepared for the curse could be doing the same thing Rumble did.
May 24, 2013 at 6:06 pm #195984RumplesGirlKeymasterI do want Blue to be Sneaky Fairy. I’ve always believed she is Sneaky Fairy. I just wish they hadn’t made her such a plot device this season.
