It’s not like it was a suitcase. Just a small bag, like a purse–not sure if MM usually was shown carrying one, I know Emma typically is not shown with one (so she must have pockets!).

Question: Why would the Giant have the compass, if the bean took them any where they needed to go why would they need the compass ❓

They were shown as having a lot of human treasure for some reason that was not explained–like the human sized Golden Harp (a nod to more traditional versions of Jack and the beanstalk). Maybe they got that gold in trade back before Humans started raiding worlds and the Giants cut them off.

Except this was around the Giant’s neck, so it is kind of weird as to why they would need it in my opinon.

They were hoarders. Anton in particular seemed enamored of humans and their things. I think he kept the compass as a reminder of what he lost.

Yea, but it is still strange especially for a male to wearing a necklace which makes me wonder if that compass can do more but I could be wrong. What if they shared one bean in the group and instead of all going to one place a couple went to another ❓

Nah. I think this is a suspension of disbelief thing. And it’s not a necklace like a woman might wear. He just has it on him, his person for safekeeping.

It’s strange for a man to wear a necklace, really? In general? My brother used to wear a cross and my nephew, who is twenty has always worn a chain from the time he was in middle school. When he was younger it was a football charm because he played all through school and now wears a cross. I know a few other males in my family who wear necklaces, too. I’ve never thought twice about seeing a man with a necklace on.

I’ve never thought it strange for a guy to wear a chain / necklace of sentimental value either. My dad wears one all the time so I’ve never thought twice about it either.

We’ve seen other men in FTL wearing jewelry, including necklaces and pendants. Rumplestiltskin has some very nice brooches that he wears with his fancy shirts. Also, have you seen the amount of jewelry Robert Carlyle wears?
