You all miss understood me I said “why would a Giant” wear a big Compass for a necklace it has to be of some value or like I said when they used the beans can one person maybe change the direction, and another person goes to the orginal place that way they used only one bean( splitting the bean) to save the beans kind of a two for 1 deal, nothing more then that I know men where necklaces but I am talking just about the “compass” only.

Anyway, regardless, he had the compass simply because Emma needed the compass and they needed to make it a challenge for her to get it somehow. Also, they wanted to introduce Anton and establish a relationship between him and Emma because they intended to bring it up again in the future when he got to SB.
Maybe it was in his pocket I don’t remember either come to think of it, but I do believe they will have to use it again
There may be more to the story of the compass, but it is not something that seemed like an obvious mistake or inconsistency if there is not. We learn in Tiny that Anton likes human stuff, so that could be one reason he made a necklace of it. I can’t remember whether he had pockets in that robe, but his brother smashed his Harp. So maybe after that incident, Anton decided to keep some of the more unique things on his person so it wouldn’t happen again. Hook says the compass is legendary, so perhaps Anton knew that.

Something is going on with compasses we don’t know. One also shows up in “True North”. Hansel and Gretel’s dad had a compass and the children had it in Storybrooke. Granted, it didn’t work during the episode, but I always thought it was also a magical one and now that magic is in town, maybe it will come back up again.

I can see them using the compass again. I think the compass is more significant than the giant wearing it. Maybe they’ll use it when they’re done with NL and have to go to another land.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"There are some things that are just coincidence at the time the writers created it, and some things that are intentional parallels and threads for larger stories. I’m guessing Hansel and Gretel’s compass falls into the coincidence category, and doesn’t really relate to the Giant’s one. Hansel and Gretel seemed to kind of be “done” as a story, but I think the giant’s compass could come back into play now that they have a bean shortage and a need to get some travels done between NL, FTL, SB–and who knows where else!

Does Emma still have the compass? They might turn it into a heart’s desire locator ala POTC and use it to find Henry.

She came through the portal with it, but we don’t currently know where it is.
