ParticipantIn Season 1 they had all of these weird cryptic moments where we didn’t know what was going on, like all the hints about who Red was or that weird scene where Rumpel was digging in the forest. There were tons of these things. Then in Season 3B when we meet Zelena we immediately know she is evil and we very quickly know who she is and yet the main characters interact with her like complete morons for half the season. That doesn’t work. It is like they have forgotten how to do mystery.
Oh man that is spot on. How about not knowing if Rumple remembered in season 1. And then he says “please.” Snow being framed by a mystery someone. They do need more mystery for sure. That’s what made season 1 so great, at least for me.

ParticipantI think Henry being in his full mind and the show being about why he decided to leave the magic world is much more interesting. It is Henry actually making a choice.
I totally agree with this. I think it would make it interesting if something happened and he lost Lucy’s mother for reasons pertaining to magic. If he were estranged from his family because of heartbreak, that would be a good building block for instant conflict… Of course I also think it would be fun if Henry realised he needed a specific skill set to do whatever he has to do and calls home and this is the unlikely trio sent across the country to assist him. Heh. Hijinks ensue.
I agree. The idea of Henry giving up on the magical world because of something that happened with Lucy’s mother is interesting. He could still be in contact with Emma and Snow and Charming. Like you said, he could make a phone call and he could check in with them. Henry just not remembering them is not interesting for me.

Exactly, and you can do mystery without memory problems. Rumpel had his memories in Season 1 and he was all cryptic and creepy and it was fascinating. I forgot about the please, but exactly, that was awesome. We knew when the character’s knew. They could have Henry and Lucy’s mother use cryptic language about what happened in their past and slowly give us a little bit more over time, until we finally see in the flashbacks what happened between them, especially if she is possibly turned evil somehow. There is a way to build suspense that these writers are capable of, but it has been years since they did it.
I think about the dark swan ark where all of the cryptic interesting things that happened at the beginning seemed to have no relation to what actually happened once we saw the main event of what happened in the flashbacks. If Hook is the dark one, then he should act like it, seeing things that aren’t there maybe, having Emma worried about what he is doing and wanting him to be watched, maybe Emma wanting him to wear a magical suppression cuff, not Emma threatening her family and staying away from them. They could have even used cryptic dark one language where we think they are talking about Rumpel when it ends up they are talking about Hook.
They just need to find that place of mystery and building the story and making the end satisfy the cryptic clues given to us over the arc. They can do it. They just have to remember that they can.

BlockedI personally have no issue with the curse or memory wipe so long as they can switch it up and make it interesting.
Yeah I mean they have to switch it up. If you’re going to do the same schtick every time, at least twist it a bit. And they’ve done it so many times now that they really need to switch it up A LOT. Like, serious question….why do they keep doing memory wipes? And I don’t want an answer like, “Well they are horrible unoriginal writers and can’t think of anything else.” That’s ridiculous. Do they really think that they can only do a full season of drama if there is a curse and everyone doesn’t remember stuff? Are they trying to just mirror season 1 on purpose? Bc there’s no way that a memory wipe is the only thing these writers can come up with. Was this the only way to be able to have their cake and eat it too (keep Regina, Hook and Rumple on the show but also keep their Enchanted Forest selves? Like, there has got to be better reasoning than just these writers don’t know what else to do. Do they think that curses and memory wipes are actually what the fans want? I just don’t get it.
These are the same writers that this season literally used a memory potion in EVERY single episode when it came to flashbacks. So you tell me.

BlockedI am curious – I don’t assume they are going to age Regina and Hook in every single episode, so what are they going to do to explain the fact that they all stay the same age? What do you think are good excuses they COULD use? I’m going with fairy tales being tied to belief keeps them young. OR the Dark Curse 3.0 never being broken means they all stay in stasis, age-wise.

They’re cursed which means they do not age. And I imagine SB is also cursed as well, so that’s how they’ll keep the other characters off screen and not age as well. The only one that aged was Henry because he went away.

I imagine that Henry giving up has to do with Lucy’s mother yes. However I do expect that he does not remember. I expect that the first ones to wake up will be Hook, Rumple, and Regina. i don’t expect it’ll take to the mid-season finale for all of them to wake up. I think it’ll happen after a centric for each character.

ParticipantIt would be inconsistent to say that they weren’t aging because of the curse. Time is moving in Storybrooke. People had babies. Cinderella couldn’t have her baby during the first curse because time was standing still. That is not something that is happening in Storybrooke now. They might use something like that, but it would be inconsistent with past seasons.

ParticipantThey could instead have real drama about why Lucy’s mother left Henry or why Henry left her and have it be about those real choices.I think this will be one of the main plot points of Season 7…the rise & fall of Henry’s relationship with Lucy’s mother.
Another major plot point will of course be Henry’s relationship with Lucy, however…knowing Adam & Eddy’s love of parallels…I’m almost willing to bet cookies that somehow we’re going to get Season 1’s Emma/Henry/Regina 2.0 with Henry/Lucy/???.
And whomever will play the Season 1 Regina Parallel, will nine times out of ten, be the darkness that was chasing after Henry & Lucy in the beginning. And will also be responsible, directly or indirectly, for Henry’s split/separation from Lucy’s mother.

Depends on when the cursed happened. If the curse was immediately after the events of last episode they should be the same ages. physically. If its recent they should all be abut 10 years older.
Although, Rump and Regina are probably using magic to stay “young” regardless. Rump said he could do that to him and Lacey. So hmmm…this is interesting."I could have the giant duck as my steed!" --Daniel Radcliffe

ParticipantIf the show re-centers on parents and their children, that would be a positive. If the show shifts its focus from Henry’s maternal side of the family to the paternal side of his family, then that would be a double dose of good things. I want Henry to embrace fatherhood and to break the cycle of absent fathers in his paternal side of the family. If Rumple actually takes an interest in his grandson and great-grandchild, I will be very pleased. If upon realizing he is a father, Henry realizes how much he missed out with his own dad but yet realizes he has a chance of learning more about him through Rumple, I’d be over the moon. I want Henry to bond with Rumple in a real and heartfelt way like he never seemed to do since Manhatten. If Henry has a vision of his bio dad in which they actually get to have a father-son heart-to-heart convo, then I would be a happy camper. If Hook treats Henry well as a step-father the way Hook always should have done with his first de facto step-son, Baelfire, then even that will be a positive in my book. Finally, if Regina continues to be a presence in the life of Henry and gets to be a grandma to Lucy, then that will be another win in my book.
