It not about doing no wrong neccessarily the issue. Everyone seems very hard on David and mind you he is everyman in the world right now. He is not bound by chivalry or honor or obligation. Think about your last ex-boyfriends whom you have all thought was a (you know what). He is regular guy who is without his marbles actually from another world.
[adrotate group="5"]May 4, 2012 at 11:50 pm #145504clockwatcherParticipantI just realized that Charming was a shepherd, and David was a shepherd.
David= David from the Torah/Bible. Not sure if this holds any significance, but I just saw it on Jeopardy, when David was the answer to something about “this man was a shepherd….” Naturally, I thought of OUAT immediately. 😆May 5, 2012 at 12:58 pm #145525charmingParticipant@Clockwatcher wrote:

Maybe he’s David that is going to slay Goliath. Perhaps James is his twin’s real name. Afterall when Red busted Snow in the chicken coop she did give Mary, Margaret and Frosty as possibly alias’.

He is a shepherd that is asked to come and fight something and it is a dragon instead of a giant, but still an impossible enemy. And he uses his brain to win instead of just being the biggest and strongest. And David in the Bible is a shepherd boy who then becomes King which is like what happens to Charming.
May 5, 2012 at 8:22 pm #145582charmingParticipantI am going with David being his real name in FTL while James was his dead twin’s name. There is no other evidence to refute that yet.

IF his twin is dead 😉
Speaking of which, if they’re twins, how is the king not Charming’s real father?May 6, 2012 at 4:55 am #145622arjay369Participant@Clockwatcher wrote:

Speaking of which, if they’re twins, how is the king not Charming’s real father? The king is father to neither of them. The king and his wife couldn’t have children so the king made a deal with Rumpel. Rumpel made a deal with a peasant woman to help her husband keep their farm another year. The woman had twins. The cost of her deal was a child. One boy stayed with her, the other went to the king. The king’s “son” died. The king went back to Rumpel. For the surviving twin to replace the dead one, Rumpel’s price for the King’s second deal was the location of the family’s fairy patron so Rumple could get her wand.

May 6, 2012 at 5:17 am #145623hjbauParticipantI never understood why Charming agreed to go with Rumpel when he came for him. I get why he stayed because King George was threatening to kill him and his mother, but i didn’t quite get why Charming went in the first place.
May 6, 2012 at 5:27 am #145624arjay369ParticipantCharming agreed because Rumpel told him that the King would ensure his mother would not want for anything and the farm would always be secure as long as Charming agreed to pose as his brother. And this was before the King threatened to destroy everything if Charming did not continue the charade and marry Abigail.
Expect the unexpected, Accept the unaccepted.

Speaking of which, if they’re twins, how is the king not Charming’s real father?Oh it was clear he’s dead. It is hard to survive getting run through with a huge spear. Otherwise there would have been no need for David. Not only did we see it rumple said it. Dead is dead.
