Wasn’t Pinocchio washed up on a shore after the the whale ate him? He was a “dead” puppet and then the Blue Fairy turned him into a real boy.
Yeah i think that is right. Geppetto takes him back to his house and the Blue Fairy turns him into a real boy. I don’t know though. I am not sure how well i remember it.
From the original story, not the Disney version (wikipedia):
Once Pinocchio is able to get Monstro to sneeze, the enraged animal chases after him and his father. The whale destroys the raft, sending Pinocchio and Geppetto into the unforgiving sea. After witnessing his father almost drowning, Pinocchio grabs him and swims to shore as quick as he can, but it’s too late. Even before he gets there, Monstro slams into a rocky wall, creating a forty foot tidal wave and killing him. Geppetto, Figaro, Cleo, and Jiminy survive. When Jiminy looks for Pinocchio, he makes a very depressing discovery – Pinocchio is lying face down in a large puddle.
Geppetto, Figaro, Cleo, and Jiminy return home and grieve over Pinocchio. Then the Blue Fairy revives Pinocchio and transforms him into a real boy because he has now proved himself brave, truthful and unselfish. Jiminy is then awarded with a certified 18-karat conscience badge.
I think that is exactly what happens in the Disney version of the movie as well.
Lol, I copied the wrong version. xD That IS the Disney version.
This is the traditional ending:
After long months of working for the farmer and supporting the ailing Geppetto he goes to town with what money he has saved (40 pennies to be exact) to buy himself a new suit. He meets the snail, who tells him that the Blue-haired Fairy is ill and needs money. Pinocchio instantly gives the snail all the money he has, promising that he will help his mother as much as he is helping his father. That night, he dreams he is visited by the Fairy, who kisses him. When he wakes up, he is a real boy at last. Furthermore, Pinocchio finds that the Fairy left him a new suit and boots, and a bag which Pinocchio thinks is the forty pennies he originally loaned to the Blue Fairy. The boy is shocked to find instead forty freshly minted gold coins. He is also reunited with Geppetto, now healthy and resuming woodcarving. They live happily ever after.
No water there … But I've seen pics of the Pinocchio episode and we do see the puppet being washed up on a shore there, so they're going with the Disney version.
Yeah i just posted those pictures in another thread.
So in the original Pinocchio becomes a real boy in a dream. That is interesting. I think that going with the awake Blue Fairy version is the right way to go.
