The Guardian story has been only briefly hinted at so far this year, but tonight we learned that the Guardian needs to be pure of heart and that Mother Gothel is also looking for him/her. Knowing this, who do you think it is; Henry, Alice, or someone else? Could it be Lucy?

It should be Henry. The boy who will be his undoing. Henry driving by on the motorcycle when Rumpel appeared in the Enchanted Forest.

I thought they made it sound like Anastasia would be the Guardian.

I posted this in another thread, but it fits better here:

    – In 7×04, Rumple says he will go to the moment where he will meet the Guardian. He does bump into Alice, but Henry also zooms by on his motorcycle.

It’s not just Alice and Henry who are there. I think this is one of those Oracle of Delphi prophecies:

    – In the article linked above, A&E state, “The Guardian is the person who can hold the knife and keep the power without letting it consume them and will allow [Rumple] to be free of being the Dark One.”

Rumpel has renounced the power of the Dark One, so for all practical purposes he’s already doing the job of the Guardian, but he still wants to pass the burden to someone else, even though he knows (re: his conversation with Gideon earlier this season) how dangerous that would be for the recipient. I think Rumpel will ultimately decide that the person with the most experience at resisting the Dark One power should be the one to carry the burden. The moment Rumpel decides to keep the dagger (this time for the right reason), the dagger will disappear in a puff of smoke.

I will repeat my overall reaction to this episode (for a fuller explanation, see that).

I think the original guardian was meant to be Drazilla, but now her heart is too dark.

The Guardian is someone who is Pure-Of-Heart. This is someone who will suffer anything and everything for their family, over and over again. Right now, the best candidate is Regina. (Perhaps she has removed her darkness and purified her heart through her deeds in the new Realm??).

Yes. This. I really want this and I think it makes the most sense.

I could see the writers going this route as well. Though I don’t think Rumple “going to the moment where he meets the Guardian” fits as well with Regina. However, it would be a cool way to finish Rumple and Regina’s long history together by having the young woman whose heart he corrupted be the one who ultimately “saves” him.
