Question about the Underworld and the Red Room of Fire

I meant to ask this a few weeks ago, but it’s still relevant now, if not more so.

Now that we know that the underworld is a real place (possibly a realm), and that our heroes are going there, I thought of an interesting question.

Remember the Red Room of Fire, where the sleeping curse sends people? Gold said that it is a real place, “between life and death”, and that the souls of those under a sleeping curse travel there! 😯

So, now that we know that the afterlife is also a real place that can be traveled to, what does that mean for the room of fire? Is the underworld one “realm”, and the room of fire another “realm”? Are they near each other? Or is the room of fire, like, at the edge of the underworld or something?

I had originally wondered if the room of fire could be used to break into the underworld, but now I wonder if it can be used to break out?!? 😮

Unless Belle finds out that they left her behind, and uses the room to go find them! LOL! 😛

Lol good question. My guess is that they have now forgotten about the Red Room, as this show is want to do. But, for the sake of the argument, I suppose that the Red Room could be the bare bones ‘mobile version’ of the Underworld. It  could be a kind of encapsulated “sample” — since its provenance is presumably artificial (sleeping curse), rather than natural (a realm) it might be a little pocket that essentially has some of the same properties as the original plane, but that’s uniquely designed to serve the purposes of the curse caster.

But really, I think it’s just another McGuffin to add to our collection. I propose to put it right between the Crimson Crown and Squid Ink.

There’s another issue as well; Philip’s soul went some place when the Wraith took it. It wasn’t the Red Room. It might be the Underworld but it might not. So we’ve got (potentially) three places: Lost Soul-ville, Red Room of Fire (located somewhere near Twin Peaks, probably), and the Underworld/Hell/Purgatory/MishMash of various mythologies.

We don’t know if Mulan and Aurora realm traveled but in theory, they had no means to do so. Yet Philip was returned to his soul, so the Lost Soul-ville must be in the EF (unless SleepingWarrior realm traveled)

I think the Underworld is its own realm. (PS: how would one get to the Underworld if not via Duck Pond of Doom) (is it any body of water that bring Charon and the SS Purgatory?)

The Red Room of Fire can only be gotten to with a cup of coffee and some chewing gum. (plz let someone get this reference). But I don’t think it’s its own realm. I think it’s more…”in your mind” than that. I have no idea why.

It’s been said that water connects to all realms. We saw it with the Well of Wonders on Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, and we saw it with Ariel using water to travel between realms. So I guess each realm has its own portal to the Underworld in some body of water.

One wonders how Nyx fits into the Underworld and that mythology. In classic Greek mythology, Nyx is the mother of Thanatos (the personification of Death). It is said that her house is in Tartarus.
