Questions about Finale: TLK and baby Gideon - Once Upon a Time podcast forums
I dont think BF casted a spell on him to age him, as we see him as a baby, a young child, and then an adult. Plus there was his little friend who also grew up. So it seems as if time just works differently there (like that episode of angel where his son was stolen and taken into some hell dimension, and then came back all grown because time moved faster there.)
Right but what I’m saying is, what if BF was the one who altered the time in the dark realm to speed children’s lives up so she can put them to work to collect the dust in the mines? If she was the one who that to the realm, then it’s her direct doing that ages up Gideon when she brings him there. And therefore once she dies, I can potentially understand what she “did” to Gideon would be undone.
It could make sense if the show took the time to properly explain.
Regina did say there was a time stopping element to the dark curse and she was going to attempt to isolate it to give them more time. So it wouldn’t surprise me if black fairy can alter time in some way or another. But then…why?
My only guess would be that she doesn’t want to lose time with her infant child, so she makes time in her realm go faster than time outside of it. She would essentially have more time to devise a plan of escape while Rump ages relatively slower than her. So hopefully when she does escape, while it may have seemed like 300 years to her, it may have only been two for him. Its pretty grim considering Rump is centuries old before she actually escapes. In BF’s mind, she must be, like a thousand. If a single day is 30 years in her realm, sheesh.

Honestly, I think I would have been okay with RumBelle having their grownup son. Snow and Charming missed out on Emma’s childhood but they seem okay. Rump missed out on Neal’s child hood and he turned out okay…all things considered. Emma missed out on Henry’s early childhood…. And now apparently Henry missed out on his own daughter’s childhood…. Wow this hsow has some serious parenting issues xD
I think this entire show is meant to be taking place in the mind of a child. Kids don’t see parenting as a thing, so it’s not part of any story that would be running in a kid’s mind. Kids know that Mom and Dad are older and in charge, and maybe there’s this awareness that Mom and Dad do gross stuff (but we don’t know the details and don’t want to know!), but there’s no foundation in a kid’s mind for empathy for the parents’ experience. All a child knows is that he or she will be grown up someday, while the details are a mysterious blur (and teenagers are scary, so we don’t even think about them!).
