So we’ve just finished watching episode 2×19 (Lacey), and Dr. Whale’s upcoming scene for Second Star to the Right is coming into sharp focus. I’d rather discuss this here than in the Lacey thread, so we can freely discuss the Whale scene in relation to this latest plot development.
Lacey obviously gets off on watching Rumple viciously beat the Sheriff of Nottingham. She likes the violence and the darkness, but I think there’s more than that. Remember when Belle stopped Rumple from beating Hook to death with his cane? Hook told her that Rumple was partly beating him to show her how powerful he was. I think that’s a huge part of what Lacey really was enjoying. Rumple’s power.
Thinking ahead to the pictures and info we have for Dr. Whale in this episode, I think that this is going to be pattern behavior between Rumple and Lacey. That’s why Whale is on the ground and being forced to kiss Rumple’s shoe. Lacey is inciting Rumple to exert his power and making people suffer for her enjoyment.
No wonder Nealfire is so ticked off. Since Neal has to pull Rumple off Whale, it seems that Rumple is really not in control.
So how does everyone else interpret this turn of events? Is Lacey just completely opposite from Belle? Does Belle have a small dark corner in her heart that loves Rumple’s darkness and power? Is Lacey going to discover her inner Belle any time soon? And who else might become a victim of Lacey and Rumple’s potential rampage?

In my head, this is how it plays out:
Rumple keeps giving into his dark side because it’s easier and it means he can be with Lacey. However, at some point he realizes he’s losing his son, his family and himself. So he tells Lacey that he can’t be with her and be dark because he wants to be better. So even though he enjoys being with her and he does relish his dark side, he’d rather fight for Belle because she’s his true love. Something about this very passionate speech resonates with Lacey (like the phone call did in The Miller’s Daughter) and so she takes a chance and kisses him, and BOOM. TLK. She’s Belle again and I can be happy.
Who else is on the receiving end? I kinda hope Tamara gets a taste of the cane before Rumple tries for goodness again.

.Nonnie, the scene with Dr. Whale is happening in episode 21, not 20.

There are some showing Whale on the ground, others with Neal, and a transcript of the lines that people heard while they were filming the scene.
Here’s Whale on the ground:

I’m really sorry, but you know, I don’t think Rumpel will change anytime soon. Not in that season, and probably not in the next if there is one. I think that for now he will stay evil, because it please his damsel. He is in no way better than Regina, then. I mean, one day he is good, the next he is evil, etc etc.
Ah, if ever I stick around with the show, I need to find a new favorite.
Let see: Charming? No
Archie? No
Henry? To young for me ^^ so no.Who then?…
What about Hook?
Who else is on the receiving end? I kinda hope Tamara gets a taste of the cane before Rumple tries for goodness again.

Here’s a link to my photos from that trip, if anyone wants to see more pictures. There are photos from the scene with JMo and MRJ on the docks (BTS-I didn’t shoot during filming) as well as the scene with RC, EdR, MRJ(he was busy that day!), David Anders at the Rabbit Hole.Plus some general Steveston and Once locations.
