Yeah I’m kinda hoping we don’t see him and it’ll make sense why we don’t, especially if they’re going off of a different version of the story since Tangled is so recent. I shall miss Flynn but that’s what the movie’s for! On the bright side, if they don’t bring him in, then he’s still only Zac and I can live with that.
I was already a little bummed (but I’m sure she’ll do a great job!) since I was looking forward to finally having a Disney/OUAT princess I would be able to dress up as so thank goodness I don’t actually get to go anywhere I could cosplay! Looks like I’m stuck with Emma (not super recognizable but at least the outfit is comfortable?) and she’s a favorite character for me too, though it would have been nice to have a traditional Disney princess to match as well. (Looks like that’s out for me unless they randomly make someone else blonde but doubtful and I’d probably be upset with them changing whoever since I like the more traditional looks for them. Nobody has problems changing a blonde to a brunette but I can’t even begin to imagine the backlash had someone else’s hair changed to blonde.)
I’m always so jealous of all the Belles in the fandom (I love Belle, but would never be able to pass for her!) and Aurora/Cinderella weren’t exactly what I was hoping for. (I enjoy them on the show but I don’t exactly want to go around dressed as them or anything and only Cinderella would really count so not really interested in the OUAT versions for those purposes.)
Rapunzel hits close to home so was really hoping I’d finally have someone to join in with on that kind of stuff but looks like that’s out! (I wouldn’t really want to go to anything OUAT-related dressed as the Disney version when the OUAT version is so different). Long blonde hair just is not popular with OUAT, that’s for sure! Seems like Emma is the go-to (Cinderella is practically non-existant and Aurora isn’t really blonde – and they say we have more fun? HA! Skipped my generation for sure! Brunette is totally in right now, including the end of Tangled, but for the majority of the movie, that’s basically me for a long list of reasons so I’m rather attached to her – though my hair is FAR more tangled than hers, so jealous).
I’m sure Alexandra will be amazing though! I have seen stuff with her in it that I need to rewatch cause I can’t remember too much about her but I’m sure she’ll fit in wonderfully and I love when people that are actually fans of the show get involved in it! Tangled isn’t the only version of the story so we’ll just have to adjust to the differences and it’ll be nice to see a POC brought in (though I was really hoping she was going to be Tiana) and have her be a good character (I can’t imagine they would make a Disney princess evil!)
I really didn’t think we’d be getting a Rapunzel at all or at least anytime soon so am surprised but happy (even if it means no Flynn and no fun costume for me). I’m much more invested in Tangled than most of the other Disney movies even though I loved many as a kid. I’m already used to the show making me not like the stories I loved before as much as I did the originals (but love the ones I hated) so I’m a little on edge about them bringing Rapunzel in at all but I trust them.
I’m just trying to figure out whose story she might fit in with. I’m very curious as to what 14 year old Rapunzel has in store for us!

I think she’ll actually be very good in the role, even if it’s not the traditional look. Can’t wait to see what she brings to the table and how she’s connected to everything!
Literally my only concerns looking at it were well darn, can’t dress as OUAT’s version of Rapunzel, and Flynn will either be non-existant or way too young for me. That’s it! (And as depressing as those are for me on a personal level, it’s not the end of the world and has no bearing on whether her version of Rapunzel will be awesome or not).
It really depresses me to see how vicious this fandom can be sometimes. I haven’t looked yet but poor Adam must be getting a barrage of hate sent at him (like usual), and on his birthday no less! It’s getting embarrassing to say you’re a Oncer because to some people, that lumps us in with the extremist fans who can’t be happy with anything.
I may worry about things a little before they air, but context is everything and without it, it’s hard to judge anything. Plus things usually turn out way better and are pleasant surprises! I thought I’d hate Beast after the promo for Skin Deep and that’s a fan favorite episode now that people were trashing over the 2 week break leading up to it after that promo was released. These are fairy tales. Anything is possible!
Edited to add: the more I look at stuff of hers, the more convinced I am she will be amazing in the part. Can’t wait to see what she does with it and I’m more curious than ever what her storyline will be!
Also do people really think Emma is more than one character? I keep seeing all these posts of people flipping out that she can’t be Rapunzel now and it makes no sense to me. Emma is Emma. That’s it! That’s what they’ve said from the beginning!

I’d been thinking they might steer clear of Rapunzel completely, just because Tangled is so recent and so widely loved. So I think them switching it up like this by making her look completely different to the Disney version is a good move. Makes me wonder how much if any they’ll borrow from the movie. I’ve gotta go re-read the original now.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe there’s hope for Frozen to appear in Season 4 after all.

True. And now that they’ve actually cast an actress the casting call could change to age her up past 14. So, it’s possible.

In Tangled, Rapunzels hair actually has healing powers. Maybe Rapunzels role will be to have her hair be used as a cure? To make a potion?
