I know this is a long shot but what if Cora is also the old woman from Tangled, or the witch from the original story of Rapunzel? I know these writers give many hidden clues as to who someone might be, and some I think are even over-done, but only to throw us off (ie. August and the Pinocchio theory, in my opinion). If they were to give away who someone is, I think they would give us one chance to catch it (and I might be saying that just to justify my theory). 34 minutes into Stable Boy, Cora makes the comment, “Trust me, Regina. I know best.” The camera was on Barbara Hershey when she says it, although a wide shot. Perhaps this is hinting toward the “Motheeeerr knows best” song from Tangled. I could be way off but I think her saying “I know best” as opposed to “mother knows best” is the writers way of throwing us off. If she would have said “mother knows best”, I would have the opposite theory; that the writers are doing that just to make us think that’s who she is. Gah and now I’m just thinking out loud.
This would also tie one fairytale story to another, which the writers seem to enjoy doing. AND, if you look on imDb, Christina Gooding is welcomed on the show for the first time next episode (The Return) and she doesn’t have a character name listed on imDb. She’s also very blonde so, just to make my theory less crazy, this could be Rapunzel. This show makes me think way too much. But I love it.

And here I was thinking I was the only one who was reminded of exactly that! Ts ts, don’t be so conceited Mia …

This site mentions her being a mute maid. I don't think they'll make her be Rapunzel, though you never know.

Some phrases, like “mother knows best,” are common even though they stand out to us from one particular setting. Sometimes, a phrase is also just the best way to put something, or sounds quaint, but isn’t a reference or easter egg.
If we watched another show and her someone say, “Dearie,” we might think it was a reference to Once Upon a Time, when it was just something that sounded good to use.
Then again, Regina did seem to have a lot of hair when it was braided. 😛

Maybe she finds out about Rapunzel and after she kills Cora (which I think she did) uses Rapunzel to stay young (as Gothel does in the Disney movie) and have more time for her revenge.
April 5, 2012 at 12:10 am #140971hjbauParticipantI don’t know if Regina never ages. I think she was definitely supposed to be younger in the last episode. She seemed younger to me.

LOL Good point. That word will now always make me think of Rumple, for the rest of my days, no matter what setting I hear it in.
The guys have said that they do in fact drop hints, and that when things are finally revealed, people will go back and be all, “DUH how did I miss that, it’s so obvious.” That’s one of the reasons I got all caught up on the doll of Grace’s that Regina is holding in Hat Trick…it’s a random blonde haired princess doll in a pink dress and I went and formed a whole theory that it simply MUST mean that Grace’s mother will end up being Aurora. This show messes with your head in the most delightful way. 😉
Now that there’s a blonde showing up in an obscure role, I may need to add to that above speculation and say that this new character will end up being Aurora.
Wonder if she's gonna be in any more eps this season, or just that one. If we knew she was gonna be in one of Sebastian Stan's two upcoming eps, I'd be bouncing off the walls. LOL

reminds me of a certain mermaid we know:)April 5, 2012 at 2:38 pm #141039hjbauParticipantI thought that too when someone said mute maide. The person may just be a background character though.
April 5, 2012 at 2:48 pm #141042PheeParticipantYes, that would be very fitting! Only problem is the actress isn't a redhead, but I suppose they could stick her in a wig.
