So we know it’s in 304 meaning that it must be in NL when Rumple goes to get the squid ink?

So I’m gonna propose that the doll is part of the flashback AND part of the present events. Rumple kept the doll after Felix threw it at him (I really need Felix to die…).
My crack pot theory?
It’s Rumple’s happy thought from when he was a Lost Boy. When he left NL, after it became a not so happy place, he left the doll behind because it no longer brought him joy. He will see it again in NL of the past when he goes to get squid ink but doesn’t care because he’s full on Dark One and Bae is now his happy thought. The reason why he has such a poweful emotional reaction to it in 301 is because his happy thought of Bae is now gone and this is a reminder of everything he’s gone through, including being a Lost Boy.

I totally tweeted him that it was Rumple’s, made by his father, stolen by his brother Peter when Rumple was in NL as a child. Also thanked him for the clear pic, because the blurry screencap made us all crazy. š
I still think Bae’s doll, that Rumple made to comfort him after Milah “died” or shortly after when Bae was born. That way it would not be Dylan, but a baby or younger kid, so we might not notice the casting (no call) and shot indoors.
Here is a creepy thought though, what if the doll used to be a person? Like Gepetto’s parents? Maybe the doll was a kid who befriended Rumpel the last time he was there (getting squid ink and other curse ingredients) and PP turned him into a doll.

I saw the tweet on tumblr and thought, Robert, Robert. So good to finally have a clear picture of this doll.
I still think Baeās doll, that Rumple made to comfort him after Milah ādiedā.
This makes sense.
The blue jacket looks and feels very formal. Maybe he modeled the doll’s jacket after his father.
