I’m amused by the idea of David punching Gold in the face and kinda want to see it now.
You manipulated my wife!! *punch*
I can see Rumple stopping it though, freezing Charming or something.

There’s reason that Gold said he was worried about Charming after the curse was broken.
So it’s possible that David could get in a hit before Gold heals himself and decides on his next move.

He even had the squid ink inside his cell which would have let him escape had he chosen to use it. In FTL, Rumple was just messing with Charming when he fought him, Rumple needed Charming to stick the True Love potion egg in Maleficent. If Rumple really wanted to stop Charming, he would do it easily. If Charming wanted to punch Rumple, he’d have to take Rumple by surprise. Appear calm and reasonable in order to get close enough to Rumple then throw the punch.

But I will say, I felt terrible for Regina in the brief moment that she saw what her mother would have been like with her heart. With that said, I don’t really know what better outcome there could have been. Can you imagine that scheming demon as the Dark One???? I doubt that Regina would have survived that, I have the feeling her mother would have felt threatened by her and would have killed her off. There was a bit much going on and emotions were running way too high for Snow to honestly get the idea to put Cora’s heart back in her body so she could become a loving mother – and she had the safety of her own family to worry about, time was ticking – if Cora became the Dark One her entire family would surely have been killed.
I guess I really don’t see ANY way for things to have worked out aside from Cora being killed off. Gold wasn’t strong enough to do it himself. It was a bummer but sadly, I guess that’s what you bring about when you rip your own heart out 😕 . I know this may sound strange but at this point Gold is probably the safest person to be the Dark One. He has years of experience and regret so he knows what he is doing but isn’t dangerous (as in a newborn Dark One manner of speaking). Plus he has Belle and now Bae to keep him in line. Although he is always inclined toward toward darkness, he doesn’t want to let Belle down. And everything he did was done with the goal of getting Bae back so that could change him as we’ll.
I also still think we are missing a LOT of pieces of the puzzle. We obviously aren’t done with the story of young Cora and we still don’t know how Rumple came to know Regina as a baby. I am still not convinced that Regina isn’t his daughter (wouldn’t that be one seriously messed up family tree!!). We don’t know exactly when Regina was born. In some ways I almost felt that his comment to Regina, while inappropriate in it’s timing, may have been the most compassionate and caring thing he has ever said to Regina – even though it was said through his own personal hatred!!!
March 12, 2013 at 10:21 pm #179453PriceofMagicParticipantJane Espensen confirmed that Rumple wasn’t Regina’s father. As for Rumple being the safer person to be the dark one, the saying “Better the devil you know” springs to mind. Rumple at least had a heart, literally, whereas Cora was all about the power.
Did anyone think Rumple was a little bit taken aback when Cora told him she had ripped out her own heart in FTL? Almost like he thought such an action was wrong, even by his standards?

I did! Like the thought never even occurred to Rumple. His motives, as devious and manipulative as they are, are prompted by one thing: the love he feels for his son. I don’t think Rumple believes love is weakness (I was so glad it was the King who told Cora that and not Rumple). Cora’s actions were prompted by that philosophy and her need for more and more power.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 12, 2013 at 10:25 pm #179457KebParticipantI definitely got that impression. It was a very cold rejection of him, to start with, whether she had loved him or not (and he wasn’t inclined to believe it then). But yes, I think he would never have done that to himself–I think it did go beyond his brand of evil in some way. And we can see how it set her up to become a monster later.

March 12, 2013 at 10:33 pm #179463killianhookfanParticipantI also thought it was a slap in the face. He ripped Mila’s heart out because she chose another man over him. Then Cora rips her own heart out so that she can choose power over him – and he was the one who taught her how to do it. So two women have basically chosen to give their hearts away as opposed to choosing to love him. I think he was horrified that she had physically done it to herself and was emotionally wounded that yet another woman had given her heart away. I felt sorry for him in that scene. He briefly had the same expression on his face as he did when Regina tells him that Belle is dead. Total rejection.

BEAT UP MOE with his cane
Got the wraith to go after Regina
Turned Smee into a rat but let him go
Set up SNOW to kill CORAFrankly GOLD is very like a gun dealer that sells the guns but does not pull the trigger
OR like a MOB BOSS who put out a hit on a rival or a deadbeat
HE ALWAYS LETS SOMEONE ELSE DO THE DIRTY WORKCora since the curse
KILLED LANCELOT
KILLED THE VILLAGERS IN EF/ FTL safe haven
Kidnapped Archie to torched Regina and have everyone turn against her
Pushed JoAnna out the windowI am sure there would have been more deaths if she had lived longer than a couple of days in Storybrooke
REGINA since the curse:
Killed Graham by squeezing his heart
Set up Snow for the murder of Kathryn then let Glass/ Genie take the fall
Locked up Belle in Looney Bin
Kept Maleficent as a dragon in the underworld… now that is cruelty to animals
Tried to poison Emma with an apple tart but got Henry instead
.
.Have I missed any of their miss deeds … if so let me know…
Right now I think it is a three way tie as to who is the BADDEST OF THE BAD

But Regina has no one, not a single person to care for her.
This is true, and really sad. They’ll have to have someone else join TeamRegina at some point, because I suspect she’s gonna go so dark now that she won’t be able to haul herself out of it. Wonder who will be the one to eventually help her?
Regina desperately needs a new Daniel, or a male version of Belle. Henry is, in a sense, lost to her and has been since the day Emma came to Storybrooke. She needs someone who can focus all his love on her and isn’t pulled between her and someone else. I really believe that it’s a matter of time before we see this happen on the show, assuming Regina doesn’t get killed off first (I really don’t want to see that happen)
As for Mr. Gold, he hasn’t changed AT ALL in my eyes. He loves Belle and his son, but is still a selfish, self centered trouble maker and still has a lot of wrath and vindictiveness in him. If you look at Regina before Cora framed her, she was doing much better than Mr. Gold with the redemption thing. She was playing nice, keeping to herself, and not trying to cause trouble. Mr. Gold on the other hand, is always trying to stir up a word I won’t use on this forum. He tried to get Regina to kill Emma and Snow in the portal, he convinces Snow to use the candle, he turned a guy into a mouse not that long ago, and look at the anger he displayed towards Henry very recently
I don’t fully trust Gold or believe in him even after his heart felt speech to Belle. He is at the heart of EVERY SINGLE BAD THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED ON THIS SHOW. He is the little devil on everyone’s shoulder and I honestly think Regina has a better shot at redemption than he does, but I hope to be proven wrong. I WANT to see him become a better man, but he keeps doing things on this show that make me feel that it can’t happen. I especially get mad at him in all his scenes with Regina, because he ALWAYS pushes her towards her darker instincts. He’s like an enabler for a person trying to stop using drugs.
