And yes, I’m reaching here, lol.
But first, Hi! I’ve been stalking these boards for a while and this is my first post. 🙂
After Tallahassee my friends and I were arguing a bit whether Neal is Bae or not. So I googled the name Neal Cassidy, thinking it sounded familiar, and found a synopsis for a book called On The Road by Jack Kerouse. It’s sort of a biography, and in it the character Dean Moriarty is a fictional version of the real life person, Neal Cassady.
On Wikipedia, the character description says that Dean grew up with an alcoholic and bum of a father, who he searches for periodically. He races from journey to journey, pulling other people along. So, am I alone in thinking that it sounds like one of those far-fetched name connections the creators love? Or am in reaching way too far? Lol.

I think you are right on track. 😀
November 5, 2012 at 8:38 pm #159679Daniel J. LewisKeymasterWow! Brilliant research!
I think there are other clues that Neal is Baelfire, and one could be whatever August showed him from the box.
November 5, 2012 at 9:00 pm #159683wewerecursedParticipantYeah that’s one thing that seriously drives me crazy, what was in the box?? I don’t think August could possibly have known that he was Bae, if he is, but he seemed to know that Neal would believe him.
Another little thing that remember from season 1 is that when Emma was lying to Henry about who his dad was she said that he was a fireman who died in a fire. Fire? Baelfire? (cue rimshot, lol)November 5, 2012 at 9:28 pm #159689antbeeParticipant@WeWereCursed! wrote:

(cue rimshot, lol)Does anyone know the exact line last night about being caught in the crossfire? I’m not ready to do a rewatch yet, but I definitely thought that was another Baelfire hint just like the fireman, the fire escape being featured so heavily in Neal’s first appearance, and the tip of Henry’s arrow being on fire in the People magazine spread.
I also thought that Bae might be connected to the nightmares Aurora and Henry are having because of the part about the room with flames, and Neal wanted the dream catcher. I’m not sure though because I don’t think every reference to fire or flames is connected with Baelfire, and I think Neal’s nightmare was about his father not that he was ever under any sleeping curse.
November 5, 2012 at 9:48 pm #159690cinnamonhummingbirdParticipantJust re-watched the scene. The exact wording was:
(August) “There was a curse. And it needs to be broken. Emma is the key. I was tasked with keeping her on track and you, my friend, just got caught on the crossfire.”November 5, 2012 at 10:48 pm #159696rodneshaParticipantI definitely agree with the current theory of Bae/Neal/PP… have since last season. A lot of what I’m seeing just affirms it.
Does anyone out there think that Neal wrote the book? He’s in NYC, is it too far fetched of me to say that he is a writer (lots of writers in NYC). I’ve been re-watching episode 1 of Season 2 for clues in the opening scene with Neal… including the song playing “Charley’s Girl” by Lou Reed.
Just wanted to see if any of you were wondering the same or had an theories!

I think it was Blue, just because she’s the oldest magic. She’s the only one that could be able to recount all those stories from the very beginning. The book was enchanted that’s why Emma got a flashback when she touched in ALWOM. Those final preparations had to involve the book and Blue keeping her memories.

As for who wrote the book, I think it was either the Blue Fairy, Rumple, or just a product of the curse. Although, I think Rumple was shot down for some reason. I don’t remember why I quit thinking he wrote the storybook. It may have had to do with him having nothing to do with Pinocchio’s story, but I think there was another reason I’m forgetting.
Wouldn’t it be wild if Regina actually wrote the book. 😆
Back to Bae, I do think Neal is Bae. I just can’t see him being the White Rabbit. Everything just points to him being Baelfire. He has to be some fairytale character. He just wasn’t shocked at whatever he saw in August’s box. The look was just so telling.
Also, as it’s been said many times, in the People magazine picture, Henry was wearing both Baelfire’s and Emma’s clothing. I think that is very telling, too.
Keeper of Rumplestiltskin's and Neal's spears and war paint and crystal ball.
