So after listening to the conversation in the last podcast about whether Red’s transformation is a magical one I was thinking about what the definition of magic is. I propose that her transformation is only a magical transformation in Storybrooke.
Let me explain. I think that magic can be defined as some phenomena that does not occur naturally in a particular world. Now some things that are not considered magical in one world would be magical in another because it is not part of that world’s natural code i.e. physics, biology, chemistry. So in the case of Red’s transformation in Enchanted Forest her transformation is part of the natural world but she can utilize her hood as a form of magic because it is altering the natural pattern of things.
However, when she transforms in our world, it is considered magical since it is not part of the natural order of our world. So since our world did not have magic or a way to get around the natural code of our world during the cursed years she did not transform into a wolf. But as soon as the capacity for magic to occur was available Red went through her natural but our world’s magical transformation.
    Any thoughts?

Good thinking! I’ve also thought about how some parallel universes probably have different laws of physics than our own and how magic, to us, could be real in their universe.
