The most interesting thing about the latest ep of WL was IMO the stuff with Robin, because it gave us some more insight into his character, which can get us thinking about how he might interact with Regina. Thought I’d type up some of his dialogue…

Robin: Not a thief. People call us that, but that’s not what we are.
    Will: What are we?
Robin: We help those in need. A thief only steals for himself.
Will: Right. And that’s not us?
Robin: We have a cause that’s bigger than any of our own needs. And that cause is humanity. When you steal for personal gain, the first thing you lose is yourself.

Robin: No. That is Maleficent’s castle.
    Will: Yes, I’m aware.
Robin: She’s a sorceress, Will. The one thing we do not mess about with is magic. It’s dangerous, no matter how valuable it is, or how much wealth it can bring you, it’s never worth the consequences.

Robin: What was so important you’d go after magic? Was it debt? A sick parent? A woman? It was a woman, wasn’t it.
    Will: I’ve got my reasons.
Robin: Well whatever they are they’re not good enough. You made a bad mistake last night, and it will haunt you.
Will: What you gonna do to me?
    Robin: Worst thing possible. Nothing.
Will: You’re gonna let me go?
Robin: Yes. You will meet the fate you’ve earned. A fate you deserve.
Will: That’s rich coming from the Prince of thieves himself.
Robin: Today you’ve shown yourself to be the only thief among us.
Will: Because I’m stealing for myself and not living by your code? Well I’ve gotten along just fine living by my code, thank you very much.
Robin: Well for your sake, I hope your luck continues. But my experience tells me different.

So, things this tells us about Robin Hood.

There was a time when he was very anti using magic. Then there came a time when he used it to save the life of his sick wife and their unborn child, so obviously his attitude towards it changed, and he realised that desperate times will drive a person to do something they never thought they would, in particular where magic is concerned. That makes me think of Regina being anti magic in her younger days, until she caved and used it to free herself of her mother, (and alas for Regina, it sorta snowballed from there).

Robin believes in being selfless, in using your skills to help as many people as possible, because when you’re selfish and use your skills for personal gain, it just causes you to “lose yourself”. Exhibit A: Regina “Evil Queen” Mills.

Robin believes in karma, and in letting people who have earned bad karma have it catch up to them. Regina’s got a whole hot mess of bad karma, and she’s been paying for it. I don’t think he’d tolerate any “woe is me, they all call me evil but I’m really not” stuff from her. He’d call her out and ensure she accepts responsibility for her actions. I think she’s already starting to accept that she really has done some bad things to people, like the whole situation with Tink, and Regina trying to exclude herself from the group because she’s aware that the consequences of her past actions would affect the whole Operation. When Emma asked what she’d done to Tink, Regina was all, “What I always do,” so she’s owning up to the fact that she has in fact been rather horrible to multiple people. Anyway, I think that Robin’s belief is karma would make him see that she has suffered as a result of her actions, which could allow him to see a more vulnerable side of her, compared to everyone else who just sees the EQ.
