The Queen of Hearts (QoH) had a vault very similar to the one Regina had both in FTL and in SB. What’s more, the QoH kept Regina’s father contained in a box very similar to the heart box. How did the QoH get the box in the first place and why did she want “leverage” over Regina, as she told the Mad Hatter? I’m left wondering about the history between the two and how they know each other. We still have yet to see the face of the QoH. The actress who plays the QoH is listed in the credit for ep. 17, as is the actor who plays Henry’s father. I’m guessing that Regina’s evil mother, Cora, will play a role in enslaving Henry Sr. and giving him to the QoH. I’m also guessing that the QoH inspired Regina’s cruel and evil obsession with collecting magical hearts. Also, I’m left wondering how exactly do magic mushrooms from Wonderland bring back those who are enslaved, as they did Henry Sr., Regina’s dad.

So several people theorized it wasn’t Henry Sr.’s heart in the box but a miniature Henry Sr. And Regina said the Queen of Hearts held him as collateral against her. I just thought for sure that looked sin=milar to Regina’s heart box vault and being in wonderland and the Queen of Hearts… so I’m having a hard time swallowing a miniature Henry Sr. myself, but I won’t discount it for lack of any other explanation. Although, I have to wonder who fed him and kept him alive? I don’t think a heart ate that piece of mushroom.
I will say, that with all the comments about family, at the beginning, I almost felt like Regina and Jefferson were somehow related and estranged. So it would be interesting to know how they knew each other, especially since he told his daughter he didn’t know her, which means he hadn’t seen her for quite some time, but obviously he knew her when they talked in the house and had some sort of history.

Are they just re-using props, did Regina built the one in her castle based on the one in Wonderland or is it the same? If it’s the same, how did she get it? Or maybe there’s a vault like that in every world?
My first thought was that the Queen of Hearts was Regina’s mother, too. But the actresses are different … The QoH is played by Jennifer Koening (What's with American actresses being called Jennifer, really???) and Cora by Barbara Hershey.
Maybe the QoH gave Regina some power and that’s why she had Henry Sr. as leverage.
March 26, 2012 at 2:06 pm #139806PheeParticipantWhen Regina opened the box, it looked empty to me, so the TinyHenry who grew when he ate the mushroom theory works for me.
I most definitely think that QoH will turn out to be Regina's mother. Nevermind what the credits say about who played the part in this ep. Lots of people know who will be playing Regina's mother, so they wouldn't wanna show her face in this ep. What other reason would there be for them to hide her identity?
March 26, 2012 at 2:11 pm #139807SlurpeezParticipantBut the credits for ep. 18 and 17 list two different actresses for each role. Cora will be played by Barbara Hershey and the Queen of Hearts was played by Jennifer Koening. That means Cora, Regina’s mom, is not the QoH. If the producers had wanted to make Cora the QoH, all they’d have to do is hire one actress (Barbara Hershey) and cover her face until the big reveal. It’s much more affordable to hire one actress to play two parts than to hire two different actresses to play one part. The reason they kept the QoH face covered is for an unrelated reason such as disfigurement.
Two different characters, two different actresses.
1. The Queen of Hearts is played by Jennifer Koenig
2. Cora, Regina’s mother, is played by Barbara Hershey."That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. When you leave it, there’s this feeling that you can’t shake. You just miss it." Neal Cassidy
March 26, 2012 at 3:46 pm #139817PheeParticipantWhere's the credits info for ep 18? On imdb, Jennifer Koenig is only listed for Hat Trick & I just had a quick scan of the plot summary thread in the spoiler section which lists all the guest stars and didn't see her mentioned there either.
March 26, 2012 at 4:23 pm #139826jondavidcarrollParticipantI said from the beginning that the QoH is Regina's mother but then I also saw imdb. I know it's possible to lie on imdb, but I don’t think they would go out of their way by hiring another actress just to fool the audience.
Also, Regina’s father, Henry, isn’t a king. Therefore Regina wasn’t royal until she married Snow White’s father, King Leopold. That should also explain why QoH isn’t Regina’s mother–because Regina would have been royal before she got married.
I freaked out as well when I saw the heart vault thingy. My guess is that every fairy tale world has one and whatever is kept inside each box depends on the Queen (or King) of that world. I definitely don’t think it was Regina’s father’s heart inside the box. I think we would have been able to see it when it was on the ground, plus Regina stuck her hand pretty far down so there's open space. Also, in the story of Alice and Wonderland, eating the mushroom (either the left or right side) can make you grow or shrink. So I think she was definitely feeding the mushroom to her father. When he comes to his normal size, his and his daughters reaction would have been much more joyful, in my opinion. They acted like they were still keeping in touch, but it was hard to communicate or something. That may not make sense but it does in my head. 😀
Lastly, timeline-wise, I think this was before Regina kills her father. Obviously because I said I don’t think it was his heart inside, but also because Regina threw her father’s heart in the fire to enact the curse. Sooo I think he’s done-zo.
March 26, 2012 at 11:38 pm #139875fairycutie86ParticipantYou know, my first initial reaction was that Regina was going to end up being the Queen of Hearts, since, well, Regina does have a vault of hearts 😆 But I was thinking there’s no plausible way for Regina to be in two different realms unless she had a twin sister or something wacky like that or she knew how to travel between worlds and around what Jefferson told her. So I’m glad my first thought was proven wrong.
I’m all for the theory that Phee mentioned as well. Seems likely in my mind as to who the Queen of Hearts is. I think I’ll be rather disappointed if that theory proves incorrect.
March 26, 2012 at 11:54 pm #139889SnickerdoodleParticipantI have to say, I kind of like the twin sister idea 🙂
March 27, 2012 at 12:06 am #139892killianhookfanParticipantDon’t hate me but I’m starting to wonder if we are seeing some kind of flash forward, flash back, flash sideways kind of things like they did on LOST. Something about Regina has been bothering me on the last two episodes. And last night the way she was saying that she was so familiar with the Queen of Hearts and knew the maze system so well, blah, blah, blah kind of made me feel like we were seeing a flash back – like not only had the traveled to a new land but had also traveled back into time or something. It also makes me wonder if the reason sometimes we see Rumple/EQ getting along better and then other times wanting to kill each other even though the timeline is consistant is because we are seeing more flashes going on. The same could be said for the interaction between Mr. Gold and Regina. After last night’s episode I’m totally confused and wonder whether some of what we saw might have been the EQ traveling with Jefferson outside of SB hoping to bring back her father. And when she returned and saw MM in the cell she realized that she was out of time because it meant that MM and Emma had returned and she didn’t get what she was after – a way to bring her father back to SB. I know she ripped his heart out for the curse but this is OUaT – stranger things could happen.
