Also, it was speculated some time ago, I think by Phee, that the ocean could lead to many different lands. So the Merkindgom could be spread out over many lands accessible through swimming.
Yeah, given that Hook travelled through the ocean to get from FTL to NL, I wondered if perhaps the undersea realm might exist sort of like a bridge connecting the two worlds, so merfolk could access lands on both sides. Perhaps.
There’s a school of thought out there that Cora could have been Ursula. Not my theory, haven’t decided if I buy into it or not, just throwing it into the mix.

There is also the possibility that Rumple takes on the role of Ursula, which is why Regina went to ask Rumple about the mermaid. Both Rumple and Ursula have a love for deals (they both make people sign contracts at some point), and often they know more about the deals they are making than the other people involved. Additionally, ‘Desperate Souls’ sounds a lot like ‘Poor, Unfortunate Souls.” And finally Rumple said that the squid ink was found at the bottom of the ocean and you could not get it unless you were a mermaid or ‘ME’. Which suggests he has been to the bottom of the ocean, and thus could be more plausible to take on the role of Ursula.
I prefer to think that Rumple took on Ursula in a fight and won.

Though I’d still rather Ursula be a full character all herself. She’s just too….too…awesomely evil to not be on the show in full glory.
Imagine an episode with Regina, Ursula, and Maleficent all in the same room. Oh OUAT gods, here my prayers!!! đ

I still want to know how Mal came to be Regina’s “only friend”.

September 9, 2013 at 11:54 am #208824TheWatcherParticipantAlso, now that I think about it, Ursula transformed herself into a woman, Vanessa, who then used Ariel’s voice to hypnotize Prince Eric into almost marrying her. If Regina turns out to be Ursula, I could totally imagine her ripping out Eric’s heart and using him for her….um..naughty pleasures just the same as she did with The Hunstman.

I was wondering… Since Ursula gave all merefolk legs for 12 hours, won´t the fact that Regina is giving Ariel a new bracelet to have legs of her own counts as Regina “claiming” to be Ursula or somehow taking her place?Let me elaborate, giving mermaids legs is something only Ursula has done, but now Regina is actually surpassing her, giving Ariel total control of her legs. And judging by the way that Ursula acted, being so offended by a mortal claiming to be her, she seems just a little bit petty enough to get pissed off at the fact that this same mortal is giving the same gift she gave to mermaids only way better. I think that is something Ursula could get jealous of, so maybe this could be a way to introduce her as a villain for the second half of the season? And not just any villain. An actual villain that can stand in Regina´s way to have a happy ending with Robin Hood.
A&E follow a pattern. They have a knack to introduce characters in just one episode only for them to play a major role later on. Like Cora back in S1, look at the role she played in S2. Like Maleficent in S1 only to have a significant role in S1´s finale, 20 episodes later after her introduction. Or more recently like Robin Hood in S2, and look at the role he is having in S3 and will have in the second half of S3. Also, Wendy and her brothers in S2 and look at how relevant they will become in the first half of S3.
What I am trying to say is that Ursula seems like the kind of character that could fit into this pattern of âNow-you-see-them-now-you-don´t-and-now-they-are-the-plot-twistâ. And finally, let´s face it, it wouldn´t be a satisfying love story for Regina without anyone getting in her way of a happy ending and Ursula certainly can fit the bill, maybe even interfering with Ariel and Eric´s arc.
Any happy thoughts?

Any happy thoughts? You have a good point and I firmly believe the REAL Ursula will make another appearence in her true form. As for Regina still playing Ursula by giving Ariel legs again, I think you are right. But when you live in a world of magic, I’m sure plenty of mermaids have become human through other magical means and I don’t think Ursula would mind that, I just think she was pissed that Regina IMPERSONATED her when she did it. That’s blasphemy in a way, so its understanable that shed be angry. But I hope she does show up again to get back at Regona.
