ParticipantI think there might be a change in story line at the end of the season. Perhaps some of what has been posted are remnants of the original storyline, and the one they are on (Regina turning evil) is the wrong one?

ParticipantI’m thinking the twist at the end of the season is going to be the heroes and the villains swap places. That would mean Regina and Robin Hood take the place of Snow White and Prince Charming. However, whether that is the result of the Author tampering with the current story or simply reverting it back to the way it always should’ve been is the main question. Was page 23 something that actually happened but was then erased? Or is page 23 just an alternate reality, a what-might-have-been if Regina hadn’t chickened out of meeting Robin in the tavern? I think we will find out the answer to that question next week, based in the promo.

That is the million dollar question….was page 23 something that happened or is it just an alternate reality. If it really happened I think Cora pulled a fast one on Regina (think Wonderland’s Will and Anastasia)…and Regina was so devastated and heart broken she, like Snow White did in Heart of Darkness, erased her memories. Regina was so heart broken when Henry was in New York she wanted to go into a sleeping curse and when Henry was a baby she partially erased her memory so that she would not worry about Henry’s birth mother being found on the day Storybrooke was created. Of course someone else could have erased her memories…and it is likely she thought there was no hope of finding Robin. Maybe a Romeo and Juliet type story where they both believe the other is dead. Of course the writers could go a different way but there is a lot of foreshadowing in the Rumple Belle story with Rumple thinking she was dead and also in the Robin Hood Marian story where he thought Marian was dead.
There is an interesting parallel scene between Snow White in season 1’s “Heart of Darkness” and Regina in season 4’s “Fall.” (I’ve got a photo comparison of the screen shots attached to the post)
In Snow’s scene it opens on her with the red ribbon in her hair…yellow in her dress…and also the contrast of black and white.
Regina’s scene opens in her black and white office with very obvious yellow lights and red apples in the foreground.
We then see a parallel scene where both Snow and Regina see the blue bird (Regina’s being a picture on the wall), they gaze at it and lift their hand, they attempt to destroy the blue bird, and the they end the scene with a look of satisfaction.
Of course the Snow White scene is when she drank the potion to forget Charming…thus turning her into Snarky, Sneaky, Evil Snow. She goes to kill the queen, strips a guard naked, smashes his knee…and he is in such bad shape Charming thinks the Evil Queen did it. One sip of that potion turned Snow dark. It is interesting that it is in this scene and only this scene where we see Snow in more tradition Disney costuming, red ribbon in hair and yellow in dress…and she is humming the Disney song. We don’t have Bandit Snow…we have Evil Snow…Disney Princess. Foreshadowing about Regina’s story??? Aftershadowing???…I guess we will have to wait and see.
We do have one other hint that Regina may be the original Snow White. In the movie, Snow White says this line when thinking about her encounter with Prince Charming, “Want to know a secret…promise not to tell…” It was Regina who first asked someone to keep a secret and to promise not to tell…when she told Snow of her love for Daniel. It is on Regina where we see “Snow White Sleeves” for the very first time. After Snow is with Regina…Regina brushing Snow’s hair…we see Snow in similar sleeves…but a blue dress…not the traditional Disney costume.
So the million dollar question is what you put in your post…alternate reality or a what could have been story. Snow met Regina when she was 10. If Regina was the same age as Emma was when she met 10 year old Henry, it would put her at about 28. That provides Regina with a ten year window before meeting Snow, that could be a blank slate with love or loves other than Daniel. Either way, I have a feeling something epic is about to happen.

It would be an interesting twist if these parallels are remnants ( good descriptive word) of an original storyline. I’m looking forward to the next episodes.

ParticipantIn the Disney movie, Something Wicked This Way Comes, it is an evil man who comes to town and gives people restoration to their broken stories or gives them a happy ending. Of course, in order to get that happy ending they had to sell their soul to the Devil. I just saw the movie for the first time and it is definitely a different type of Disney movie. When the people get their happy ending it brings tragedy. An old woman becomes young again but she becomes blind. A man has his arm and leg restored but he is turned back into a boy, a man won the lottery and then disappears, and there is a drowning story. I found that interesting in light of the multiple drowning references on Once and Wonderland. There is a merry-go-round that when ridden backwards turns back time for the rider…and if it is ridden forewards for too long it will kill. There is an interesting scene where the evil man begins tearing pages out of a book. Each page represents a year gone from another man’s life.
I would be interested in hearing others thoughts on possible parallels or inspiration that might connect Once and this movie. There is a boy in the movie whose last name is Nightshade…which reminded me of “Dreamshade” and “Nightroot.” All in all a very interesting movie.

Isn’t that out the Thief Lord?

Participantout the Thief Lord
I am not familiar with Thief Lord but it sounds like a similar concept. Also, I forgot to add that the evil man’s name is Mr. Dark.

ParticipantWhilst your theory Regina- original Snow White isn’t 100% correct, it was pretty damn close especially with it looking like in the finale Snow and Regina swap places so Snow becomes the Evil Queen and Regina takes on the Snow White role
Well done for calling it.

ParticipantLook at these images from the AU. Snow White and Regina swap places in Heroes and Villains. Snow White becomes Snow Black and Regina becomes the Bandit! I’m thinking that this is an alternate universe, a different twist on the original story, rather than something that actually happened in the past. But still, good theorizing!
