(and by consequence, the ages of several other characters who are related):
My rule on the timeline has been to go with internal evidence (what the show itself shows/says) first, which occasionally leads to some conflicting evidence.
For Regina’s age (we know her birthday is Feb 2nd):
–Zelena is probably about a year her senior (reasoning from events in 318, 216, normal gestation periods)
–Snow is 10 when Cora kills Daniel (410, 118)
–Maleficent tells Regina, when Regina reclaims the Curse, that Snow is about the age Regina had been when Daniel was killed. (102)
–In at least one ep, I’m thinking in late S2–can’t recall exactly–Emma notes how weird it is having parents her own age. Which strongly suggests that Charming & Snow are meant to be around 28 when Emma’s born.
–Emma’s birth is not more than 9 months after the public wedding. (She comes early, 101? and Mal recognizes the pregnancy just after the honeymoon in 413).This is the most important internal evidence I think I have for Regina’s age. However, if you reconcile all that, Zelena would be -easily- giving birth around age 50 biologically…and while she and Regina are both magical, that does stretch belief.
Someone’s brought up an objection to my current age for Regina, and I have to agree that it would make more sense for her to be between 17-22 when Daniel dies and she marries Leopold. (At one point I had guessed 19 just based on how things looked.)
Mal’s comment in 102 is pretty easy to dismiss; they had someone comment around then that Regina tried to kill Snow because she thought Snow was prettier than her, and we later found out that was not the cause at all. Still, I hate to contradict canonical stuff if I don’t have to.
So? Suggestions? Evidence I’m not looking at?

January 21, 2016 at 9:15 pm #315355TheWatcherParticipantI think you are trying to apply logic to that which the creators didn’t expect you too.
Despite all, I’m goin with Regina (in story) only supposed to be around 7-10 years at the most older than Snow.

You must know that not even its unholy power can bring your loved one back from the dead.
The line about Regina being jealous of Snow’s beauty was in the pilot.
January 22, 2016 at 2:26 pm #315382WickedRegalParticipantMy basic timeline of Regina:
Zelena was born at least two-four years before Regina.
Cora was probably around 28 when she had Regina, making her at least 24 when she had Zelena.
“Stop coddling her, she’s becoming an old maid,” – Cora (1×18) – I’d say Regina was definetly at least nineteen or twenty, more than likely twenty when she saved Snow White and was forced to marry Leopold.
We Are Both & The Doctor happened within months of each other.
Quite A Common Fairy is at least two years after The Doctor, hence still young 22 year old Regina with a 12 year old Snow.
Enter The Dragon occurred probably another two years later, making Regina 24 and Snow 14, I just like to tell myself Snow White hit a growth spurt or something.
Now Fruit of the Forbidden Tree/The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter, I’d definetly say Snow White was around 22, and Regina 32.
The whole war thing/Evil Queen Reign lasted at least six to seven years putting Snow White at around 29 and Regina at 39.
28 Years Dark Curse:
Regina is at least biologically 67 and Snow White is biologically pushing 57.
Season 2 + Season 3 + Season 4 + Season 5: Three/Two Years Altogether?
So biologically, I’m waging Regina to be at least seventy and Snow White sixty and Zelena to be seventy four years old.
Biologically….Every character on this show besides Emma and Henry are super super old! However, it was Regina’s Dark Curse that stopped their aging process hence how they have retained their youthful/healthy glow. But not even a dark curse can stop your biological age from being what it is.
Maleficent and Regina had known each other a relatively long time, and been all best buddies and whatnot, so Maleficent’s comment was more than likely a joking/sarcastic manner only to aggravate Regina, much like how Regina did Maleficent when she called her out as well.
And it was Snow White who said that Regina was only trying to kill her because she thought Snow was prettier than her….A part of me strongly believes that Snow White had been lying to the entire kingdom on the reason for why Regina did what she did, hence how the whole fairest of them all rumor started in the first place. To this day, I don’t think anyone besides the family know the true reason why Regina hated Snow White….as always Snow must keep her perfect good girl image, hence how no one knows but family how she stole Maleficent’s baby from her and did what she did.

January 22, 2016 at 2:31 pm #315383KebParticipantOh. I use biological age to differentiate from chronological…those who were frozen by the curse (most of the FTL characters) are 28 years older chronologically than they are biologically.
Those who were in Neverland (Hook & Neal) or otherwise frozen agewise by magic (like Aurora or Rumple) at some point may be even older chronologically. But biologically, they are whatever cumulative age magic did not affect them for. So Rumple is still around 50 biologically despite being a good 200 chronologically.

January 22, 2016 at 5:48 pm #315405Jiminy’s JournalParticipantWell, I always thought it poetic that Regina was born in the same year SWatSD premiered, which is how I convinced you to change her birth year on the timeline, in the first place.
January 22, 2016 at 9:43 pm #315428KebParticipantYep. I like poetic things. I just think it’s not working with the plots around Regina and Zelena :/ Nor do the actresses act or look like women approaching 50 (they probably won’t when they ARE 50, because they are gorgeous women, but still)–40 is more reasonable as a ceiling for how the characters appear to be portrayed.

I don’t think Rumple is quite as old as 200. Going, by RC’s age, Rumple was about 50 (though at this point the character could be younger than RC) when Bae fell through the portal and met the Darlings. We know Wendy was stuck in Neverland for “over a century” (PP normally takes place round the early 1900s, Present day Storybrooke started 2011 so that would be about 110 years give or take since 3A was only a week, Skin Deep was 2012, and season 2 happens in 2012. Add 28 years for the dark curse, 50 + 110 + 28= 188. So Rumple is nearly 200 but not quite there yet.
Regina I think was 19/20/21 in Stable boy hence the “Old maid” comment from Cora because in those types of days, Dowries were a thing. The younger a woman could be married off the better because she would be worth more than an older woman.
Snow went from Bailey Madison to Ginny Goodwin between the events of Stable Boy and Fruits of the poisonous tree. In a later episode, I think Smash the mirror or the episode where everyone has a go at each other, Regina brings up Daniel and Snow shouts back “I was 10”. Assuming Snow to be around the 18/19/20 there when she had to go into exile add a couple of years for her to get good at banditry and be proficient to live on her own away from Red, there is 6 years between her meeting Charming and the curse being cast. Snow is supposed to be around 28 when she gives birth to Emma. There is 9 months between Regina threatening the curse and actually casting it (Pan and Felix managed it in less than 24 hours so what the hell was Regina doing all that time?) 6 years seems an awful long time to wage a war against both George and Regina who had allied with each other so Snow may have been slightly older than 20 when she went into exile. Add 28 years curse, so Snow would be supposedly 56.
Regina being about 10 years older than Snow would make her in her mid 60s give or take. Zelena being older would make her late 60s?
All magic comes with a price!
