We all know the evil queen has an affinity with apples. Whether it be poison apples, apple turnovers or apple cider she’s not only the queen of evil, but she’s the queen of apples as well. Even managing to have Honeycrisp apples before they were invented.
But Regina seems to also have a thing for cooking lasagne and I see some symbolism here.
[*]Similar to the onion story in shrek, Lasagnes have layers, cheese, pasta, mince, pasta, mince etc, I feel this could be a metaphor for Regina, first you assume she’s evil, then you warm to her, then she’s still evil, then she tries to be good, then she turns back to evil etc.
[*]Also, she said she adds chilli flakes to give it that fiery kick, which suggests to me, the fiery element in her isn’t in there naturally either, it’s been added in.
Furthermore, we’ve seen her cook Lasagne to a different standard on 3 different occasions.
[*]When her intentions were selfish ones and trying to steal Owen from his father, the lasagne is Owen’s words tasted terrible.
[*]When she was acting to stop Snow’s true love, but was developing a crush on David, and was trying to seduce him, he said the lasagne was good, but still not great as a lot was leftover.
[*]However, when her intentions were pure, and she baked a lasagne for Henry, when she wants to build bridges, everyone praises it and the whole thing is eaten. Her lasagne tastes as good as her intentions are when she’s making it.

He might not like the taste of chilli so Regina adding chilli flakes to the lasagne may have ruined it for him. Also this may have been the first lasagne Regina made, she would have had 28 years worth of practice to get it up to the standard where David and everyone else enjoyed it.
David enjoyed the lasagne but it looked like Regina had made loads. David may not have been physically able to eat anymore and Regina would have probably saved a portion for Henry.
Her lasagne was probably all eaten at the party because it tasted good and there were a lot of people at the party. Grumpy had quite a large portion, and if he liked it he probably went back for seconds and told the other dwarves to try it. Henry would have probably had some to show Regina some support, Emma would have probably tried a bit and Charming may have had a small portion because he did enjoy the last lasagne Regina made. Archie would have probably had some to show support to Regina. 10 people could have been eating that lasagne which would have finished it quickly.
All magic comes with a price!

Wow! Read this to my husband and we both are like… 😯 that’s amazing!
Nice work, that is really neat imagery!Keeper Nealfire's/Bae's scarf, Henry and Neal's bribery ice cream sundae, Baelfire's sword, the coconut map, and more.

This lasagne thing reminds me of that, probably not something the writers deliberately put in the show, but does work as a metaphor on a few levels 😆

I actually ate some the other day and it made me think of Regina 😆
and now I want some lasagne 🙁March 24, 2013 at 11:51 pm #181928sacrlcParticipantThis lasagne thread led me to the primary ingredient, tomato, which can also be known as a ‘love apple’. Can this be the link to Regina’s apples since you can’t make a dinner entre with apples?
Don't grow up. It's a trap.

An idea that was floating in my head that is believed in my family and I have seen in at least one movie is the idea that strong emotions can flavor food. For instance in Like Water for Food there is a scene where Tita cooks Quail in Rose Petal Sauce. The roses were given by her unrequited love (who had to marry her sister) and this immense love and passion went into the food and it was sensed by the people who were eating it (to put it lightly). Then there is another scene where she is scolded for crying into the wedding cake which would have embittered the marriage.
So combined with tomatoes are known as and how strong emotional responses can flavor food it may be that the tomatoes are also reflecting Regina’s emotional state and her intentions
