Going into last night’s episode 19, I really believed that August was Baelfire..and at some point wanted him to be Baelfire
BUT, After watching last night’s episode 19 reveal I am so relieved that what I thought wasn’t correct. August is only fascinating as far as he’s “mysterious”…but now that we know the full story of why he wants to “escalate” the process for Emma to believe…my interest in his character is waning.
So, he’s probably Pinnochio AND the 7 year old who found Emma. He was probably cursed back into a wooden boy to escape the dark curse before the EQ unleashed her curse…so that when the dark curse happened it would undo the pinnochio curse and he would be a normal boy. Since he would be exempt from the dark curse he would age just like Emma did.
I hope when Baelfire enters the series this’ll be a more dynamic character…and someone to give Mr. Gold a real opposition. In the same breath..I wonder why the writers chose to approach the reveal this way and have Mr. Gold throw all his emotions wide open. I guess this shows how much he really does believe in “love” and can wait even centuries to be reunited with his son…and to be able to hold out hope for that long..WOW! Maybe, this is also a primer for us when the time comes he finds out Belle is actually alive in Storybrooke.

And i Pinocchio was still in the castle helping Geppetto with the wardrobe the day Emma was born, so he didn’t have time to go ahead and become a local boy. And wouldn’t it be mentioned if two children were found in the exact same spot.
And they just shouldn’t have all kinds of characters crossing time and space or that really causes major issues for the show.

LOVE all of your thoughts. I agree, having August be Baelfire would have been great, but looking back at the episode, it wouldn’t have made any sense. Besdies, there’s still so much story tell about Baelfire. Was he really sent to our world? Was sent to another fairytale world? Who did he grow up to be? Peter Pan? Oz? Merlin? Jack? Robin Hood? SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!
And I also can’t wait for Mr. Gold to be reunited with Belle and Baelfire. But knowing these writers, they’ll probably throw a wrench in it or make us wait a thousand years. 😥

Yes, it becomes really complicated that way. But since they’re trying to play FTL as this genre of “imaginary or mythological stories” that can encompass old fairytales, greek mythology and other folktales there has to be a way to link all these different worlds with all their different rules…so crossing “space” become problematic..but also becomes necessary. And if you cross “space”..its a small leap from there to cross “time” as well.

Yes, very interested to know how the writers will answer that question..as they said there is some great stuff to come with Rumple and his son. Because yes you are now in a land without magic but did Rumple end up at the right point in time to be reunited with his son?
April 24, 2012 at 12:19 am #143505hjbauParticipantThat is true, but i still think they should keep the crossing time to a minimum. I would much rather it was just Bae that possible crossed time through the bean and not just anyone. Especially because of things like Regina and Jefferson went through the hat and there didn’t seem to be a time issue. And also Regina’s father was trapped in Wonderland, but Regina was able to get him out and there didn’t seem to be any time issue. I just think they shouldn’t have them cross time when they feel like it and then the rest of the time there be no time crossing just space. It seems contrived.
April 24, 2012 at 12:32 am #143509charmingParticipantThere was never enough evidence to link Bae to August. All hints pointed elsewhere. I was shocked it was almost true.

I agree! 🙂 It should be used sparingly so when it happens..it becomes something meaningful.
April 24, 2012 at 1:27 am #143528enchantedoneParticipantI actually like the going back and fortth through time…to me it gives the charectors depth.
I really didn’t want August to be Pinocchio…he still may not be…but I like the fact that he is dying…I didn’t really care about him before…now I want Emma to save him.
And is it just me or did I not see glimpses of a desperate little boy in some of Augusts actions…I could buy into the whole August is Pinocchio theory…he seems like he may have never really grown up.
As for Baelfire…I want him to be Henry's dad…I'd love to see the dynamics of that one playing out. I think Henry kind of looks like he did…brown hair and everything. Mr. Gold is very kind to Henry and always happy to see him…I wonder if he knows…and that is part of the master plan…He knew Snow White was having a girl…he knew she would meet his son…have a kid…he found out her name so he could get the baby that would in turn bring Emma and Bae to Storeybrook…it's all just theories and speculation…part of the fun…can't wait for season two
April 24, 2012 at 3:26 am #143590the fresh nar narParticipantFor the theory of how Pinocchio could have made it into our world and if he is August.
First is that Pinocchio was created from the same wood that was used in the making of the cabinet made for Emma. Because of the wood having special properties for protecting the person using it. Pinocchio wouldn’t be affected by the curse, like Emma, it would send him somewhere random in the world and he would have all of his memories which is why he could be August for having so much insight on the curse and on Emma’s role in all this. You guys have also mentions clues to him being Pinocchio so theirs no need to repeat all of those, but one thing I found the most interesting is that you must realize August is new to Storybrooke and out of all the people he goes to for advice (especially about his father) is Mother Superior aka the Blue Fairy and all of the characters (excluding the main ones) that were involved with todays episode were the characters from Pinocchio (in Storybrooke that is).
