So, I just had a vague thought…
I think the decision to return to FTL or stay in SB will be a major point of contention for the characters. We’ve often assumed that the Happily Ever After at the end would be for everyone to be reunited, and then they’d all go back to FTL.
But now that I think about it: that’s probably not the case. First, Regina created the curse and tried to find happiness in the Land Without Magic by adopting Henry. (I think taking Henry in as her son was a real attempt on her part to start anew; I don’t think it was part of her “evil plan”.) Not to mention, if she goes back to FTL, she’ll immediately have her soul sucked out by some wraith because she’s still marked.
The same goes for Rumple: he wanted to come to the LWM to reunite with his son. I don’t think he wants to go back to FTL, ever, even if he had Belle to break the curse for him. Life as the Dark One was clearly a burden for him, and we see now that he never intended to go back.
On the other hand, you have Snow White and Charming. They’re rulers of FTL. Obviously they’d want to go back, along with many of the other “good” characters. Most importantly, Henry wants to go back and be a prince.
But this could pose a problem. Would Henry leave Regina? Would…Archie go back to being a cricket? Would Jefferson and Grace go back to their life of poverty? Would GrumpyxNova go back to a land where they’re separated by fairy rules?
And if the Bae-is-Henry’s-father theories are right, would Bae want to go back to FTL with Henry? Without Rumplestiltskin? Or would he stay in the LWM?
Seeing the characters’ motivations right now, I think the endgame might be trickier (angstier) than everyone returning to FTL for their Happily Ever After, but who knows? It will be interesting to see which characters start seeing Storybrooke as more a blessing, than a curse, a decide to call the new land their home.

Some characters lives are better in Storybrooke whilst others would want to return home. However, I don’t think it’s going to be a simple question of whether to return or not. All magic comes with a price. It would take magic to get back to fairytale land and I think the price is going to be Storybrooke.
Fairytale land was destroyed when Storybrooke came into existence. It would make sense that, in order to restore fairytale land to what it was, Storybrooke would have to be destroyed.
All magic comes with a price!

I think as time goes on and they know who they are but are getting comfortable with their lives in Storybrooke I could see quite the conundrum shaping up if/when they have the opportunity to go back.
FTL didn’t look all that destroyed to me. I mean the castle was still standing. Sure the inside looked bad but the building was intact. I don’t think SB has to be destroyed to get back to FTL. And didn’t Jefferson, the Queen and Rumple all admit that FTL was still there?
All I know is that this parallel world stuff confuses the heck out of me on a good day. I do look forward to the inevitable “do we don’t we” decisions that will come if the characters en masse have the opportunity to go back.
