Few little interview clips with Bobby and Emilie: http://www.screenspy.com/interviews/onces-carlyle-de-ravin-talk-addiction-dark-magic/
In the last vid, he explains how the hat works…
“The hat, it steals magic, essentially. So anyone who has magic powers, it sucks their magic into the hat and stores all that stuff in there. So it’s like a massive super computer of magic. And each time a piece of magic goes in there or a magical person goes in – the whole person goes in by the way, not just the magic, the whole person – and when they do, you know how the Sorcerer’s hat has these little stars on it, well another little star appears every time some extra magic goes in there.”[adrotate group="5"]October 9, 2014 at 9:44 am #284811RumplesGirlKeymasterThe hat steals magic. I have no idea what that means for this arc. Are they going to put the hat on The Snow Queen and suck her magic away? Also, the whole person goes in: well that will be entertaining…
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"October 9, 2014 at 9:47 am #284812PanTheManParticipantThat’s a bit darker than I was anticipating. Love the concept, but I’m actually scared for our heroes.
In the podcast, Daniel said that he could see a face in the hat – or at least the smoky figure with yellows eyes that Yensid makes in Fantasia. I went back and watched it, and he was right. You can see that same shape of smoke with the eyes near the bottom of the hat.
So i’m wondering if that figure in the hat will eventually come out of the hat, or maybe we will see flashbacks of that character before he/she was put in the hat.

Since we have characters like Elsa and Emma, who both are at odds with their magic and wish they didn’t have it, I’m worried what this hat could mean for them. I wouldn’t want to see either one of them lose their magic, or be trapped in a hat.
Most likely, the hat will the the Snow Queen’s fate. The writer in me knows our heroes will be fine. I hope.

I think the Sorcerer must be magic because I think he/she would’ve created the hat with their magic. But I could totally be wrong. I like your idea Phee. Makes me think of the Wizard of Oz in Once, since he didn’t really have magic either.

See, I can’t see them taking away Emma’s magic again. They did that once and then she got it back when she realized where home was…bit repetitive.

Assuming the wearer gets to use thatmagic once it sucks out the magic of other people, I think its another obstacle for rump. He is addicted to magic. How can he resist something that’s going to make him even more powerful.
