What Robin equates as a dark past is probably quite different to Regina’s dark past. Regina’s past includes massacring villages of peasants and sending children to their deaths in the blind witch’s house. Robin’s past probably includes not paying taxes and being a bit of a playboy.

But it’s the “I was once quite different…” that still gives me pause. As a thief, he’s still not paying his taxes and he does have two women who love him right now. So, no, he hasn’t done Regina’s level of “dark” but I think this is more than just tax evasion.

Robin being this skilled of a thief….dare I say he was once an assassin of sorts? Not like Graham the “Huntsman”, but Robin being like an actual hitman/thief. Along with robbing, he killed whoever he was assigned to kill.

I’d quite like that because it would mean he’s dealt closely with people like Regina before and even been on their side. It’d make me believe how he could have faith in her changing, if he had been involved in that same world but got himself out of it.

And would make sense with what Tinkerbelle once said about Regina ruining his life. Instead of Robin now being the light to Regina’s darkness…Perhaps Regina was supposed to be the light to Robin’s darkness, but because she didn’t go into the tavern, Robin succumbed further into it, forcing fate to cause a different situation which then set Robin on the right course, because then Regina would need someone to save her from the darkness in present day.

I won’t lie: I don’t know how I feel about them giving Robin his own dark past, as if to match Regina’s own past. It’s like OQ can’t work unless Robin has his own darkness.

Ideally they wouldn’t have to give Robin Hood of all people a really dark past, but if they’re gonna insist that he’s meant to be with Regina, they’ve gotta give me something to make the pairing believable.
