Were you happy or disappointed with how they explained where Ruby had been since the Season 3 finale?

I actually didn’t have that much of an issue with it. Honestly, I was glad that they didn’t forget that Ruby was last seen at Granny’s at the end of Season 3. Also, for once they actually SHOWED us the explanation, rather than having Ruby mention it vaguely.

Agreed. I was so worried that they were just going to forget that she was around and have her mention that she was left behind during the second curse. The explanation that they gave ended up making perfect sense,

    Yeah, I liked the flashback.

But Ruby had a bean? How’d that happen? I missed a bit of the dialogue as I watched with my sister so you know what that means (nonstop talking).

She mentioned something about Anton trying to re-grow the beans from the crop Regina burned down, and how he was able to manage to get one grown.

Yeah, I appreciated the mention of Tiny, but I was still annoyed by her reasoning for wanting to leave. Plus it crushed the whole Frankenwolf ship, and Ruby & Belle’s friendship, and just went against the whole happy ending of Ruby and Granny being family again and not arguing all the time.

It bugged me. Ruby made her choice about the wolves when she chose to save Snow from Anita.

This kinda undid all that character growth, and all those relationships.

Her plus Mulan plus Merida was awesome but it really needed more Belle.

I thought it was character assasination. Ruby was over being with other werewolfs in season 2 and she told whale she thinks Regina gave them second chance by casting the curse so suddenly she’s miserable being among her only friends and family?

    That. That right there.

I also do not, for a second, believe for a second that Ruby would leave her Granny behind to go off looking for wolves that are “her own kind.” Ruby’s happy ending was never true love or being with “her own kind” it was finding inner peace within herself and learning to love both the wolf and the girl because they were both her.

Red was over being with werewolves before the Regina cast her curse. Red felt ambiguous about magic returning then to Storybrooke, but still she as much noticed, that if ever anyone from the world without magic would learn about Storybrooke and people like her, it might not be a good thing. She was back in the Enchanted Forest for a year, maybe finding some joy again being able to wolf out. Meanwhile Snow was busy with her own family affairs.

Don’t see character assassination but a change of mind, and change of mind can happen, even in fairy tales.  It’s not like she was turned into a whiny coward all of a sudden or  some stage diva.  Red felt isolated, that was something despite her friendship with Snow and being useful comrade in arms for others ever fully left Red as feeling, and something not even Granny could help her much with.

The problem I see is less that Red could have changed her mind about some things but that we never got to see the process, because she was hidden in the fridge, closet, reorganizing the cellar or whatever she was doing all the time. So now it appears like coming out of the blue, and people struggle to make sense of it.

Having given up on reasonable world building on this show even can take the oh so convenient magical bean they were able to grow out of the ashes.

    ¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯
