Has anyone figured out what was so “splashy” about this wedding? Did it rain or something?
It took place by the well. Wells make a “splashy” sound when you drop things in them. It was a nice little ceremony.

ETA: The well just seems like such an irrelevant reference.

If he took it back he could have essentially kept the secret forever, probably, but he was insistent that she keep it. Yes, it gives him an alibi for future misdeeds, but is there another reason? Could the fake dagger have an enchantment or protection spell on it that protects Belle and that was a reason he was so adamant she keep it?
That little detail is just nagging me. Yes, he’s still the Dark One and regressing, but could there also be another reason for not taking her up on her offer? When someone hands you a “get out of jail free card” you don’t say, “Oh, no thank you. I’d rather do my time.” You take that card and cash it in.
Just trying to look at it from another angle.

Even in the vows she knows who she’s marrying, she accepts him for his weakness, for his darkness. They will push this, this poor ship has gone through so much, every single couple on this show faces challenges but I love that their vows were used as the focal point of that couples montage. They’re love for each other gets tested through so much and they make it. I believe when that storm comes they’ll find a way to back it through together.
May 14, 2014 at 2:08 am #269370PheeParticipantI didn’t like that they cut away to other couples during the vows. Tainted though that wedding may be, that was a much longed for moment for Rumbelle and their shippers, which should have been purely about THEM. And don’t even get me started on how disrespectful it was to Neal (and Milah) to imply that all he (and she) ever brought Emma (and Hook) was pain.
May 14, 2014 at 2:23 am #269374Killian JonesParticipantI thought it was a nice attempt by the writers to try and bring us all together and make us all happy but I guess it’s just not gonna be taken that way by everybody. For multi shippers like me though it was a dream come true.
May 14, 2014 at 9:35 am #269571Bo-PeepsParticipantI’m with Killian, PoM and others who feel this was a lovely ceremony for Rumple and Belle. (Or any couple!) Very intimate, private and one on one~just like their relationship and love had developed. It perfectly suited them. I loved Belle’s wedding suit as well. Very sophisticated-classic. A touching, stand alone moment that gave special validation to the genuine love they feel (separate from the supremely serious complications the creators have set up for Rumbelle in the next season ). They deserved this moment.
I agree that the splashy referred to the well.
The VoiceOver vows were poignant and beautifully spotlight the kinds of love all our couples have, plus connected them as very human beyond their fairy tale personas. The personal issues they struggle with are at the soul level, very similar. It was fitting that the connection was made in Gold’s and Belle’s voices as well.

(I am thinking of making another will a Train song in it maybe)
May 14, 2014 at 2:30 pm #269658seamstressParticipantI loved the wedding ceremony, I think it was very beautiful and perfect for Rumbelle. Private and intimate, and the atmosphere was very romantic, with the moonlight and candles. I love that they were married at the well, the place where they declared their love for each other for the first time. And I liked Belle’s outfit, she looked so beautiful and cute, like a doll.
The vows were the most beautiful thing ever! Those words were Rumbelle in a nutshell and I actually liked that they cut away to other couples, because it made my OTP feel even more special and unique.
I’m not happy with Rumple’s lies (I hope Belle will put him in the doghouse for a while once she finds out) but it doesn’t change the fact that these two truly, genuinely love each other and they were married for love. I know they will survive this.
I hope this marriage means that there won’t be any more separations for Rumbelle, and they will face the future obstacles as a couple. Mr. & Mrs. Gold. <3
ETA: Sarah, that video is beautiful!
