Rumpelstiltskin as the beast?

How do you feel about this? I was already a little disappointed when they reused Sidney to be the Genie, but at least it gives him some origin.

But maybe we’ll learn that Rumpelstiltskin was the beast before he was a father. Maybe Bel is the mother?

I posted about this on my tumblr. Remember Rump’s love speech to Snow White in 7:15 am? What if the bitterness about love doesn’t come from his wife leaving him before he was the Dark One, but maybe Belle leaving, they were separated somehow, and that’s why Rumps’ is so bitter about love. Or maybe she was forced to betray him and that caused a separation.

I don’t really like the idea of one character being multiple characters just because i think they need more characters on the show anyways. I didn’t mind the Mirror and the Genie being the same person because it didn’t seem to change the story too much except that the Genie sort of went evil in the end.

I think making Rumpel the Beast just completely changes that story. I don’t think it is something that can end up happy in any way. It isn’t like Rumpel becoming the fairy god mother in Cinderella’s story because that story was still the same, this is just a complete change. I hope that Belle ends up with Gaston instead of Rumpel. Though she may be dead, but i am hoping she appears in the real world and the open they boarded up library for her.

THIS IS MY THEORY:

I am not sure but I thought that RUMPLE was the beast after he became the dark one, but before Snow and James marry and have Emma.

In his first story he is a serf who is subjucated to the Duke, he had no power. After he kills the dark one he takes the duke’s money and power; RUMPLE goes off to live in a castle on his own and that is where Belle finds him. Their story plays out but RUMPLE looses Belle. … then he goes on bitter about love and he goes on to other bargains… Cinderella and Snow’s stories.

It seems like Rumpel makes a deal with Belle that she stay with him and in return he will protect her town from the Ogre wars.

Keep in mind that “Desperate Souls” had to have happened at least 60 years before the curse, because “That Still Small Voice” showed Jiminy going to a powerful Rumpelstiltskin (points to Swype on my phone for spelling that correctly) while Geppetto was just a boy. So Rumpelstiltskin has been The Dark One for a long time and never aged.

It seems strange that Ogre Wars are still going on, but maybe they are just something that happens every now and then.

WHAT is the logic behind the 60 year time gap from the OGRE WARS to Snows time …. I have never figured it out.

Geppetto was just a boy of around 10 or so when Jiminy got turned into a cricket and we know that Geppetto was 60 or 70 when the curse happened. This suggests that it has been around 50 years or more since Jiminy became a cricket. And when Jiminy became a cricket Rumpel was already the magical Rumpel because Jiminy was collecting things for him and names and Jiminy did the deal with him for the potion. This means that Rumpel became the dark one, the magical Rumpel, at least 50 or 60 years ago and maybe longer.

It’s very doubtful then than Belle would show up in Storybrooke. If she did, she would be a very old lady, Granny perhaps? But then again, we don’t know how long the Ogre wars lasted at this point.
