This would be parallel to EQ/Regina taking Belle away from Rumple to gain leverage against him.
Yes! I really don’t believe that Mr Gold knows that Regina has Belle locked up. I think Regina would have gone all out to make sure that stayed super secret because she’ll only want Mr Gold to know at the exact moment it’ll benefit her. If the situation escalates to where Mr Gold has the upper hand, then BAM, Regina can play the Belle card and completely throw him off his game.

Excellent points. One thing Mr Gold would NOT want to be seen as by ANYONE is vulnerable. Will being confronted with Belle make him not care about appearances any more? Or would he try to maintain his composure and status? Would people actually stand up to him and challenge him for the first time in 28 years to try and protect Belle from him?
There are so many ways this could play out. All I know for sure is that it’s gonna be the greatest scene the show has ever had when he discovers she’s alive. No pressure Mr Carlyle, but I’m expecting to be completely blown away, and you’d best make me weep! 😛

I am ditto on the weeping thing…I swear he is going to have to be a jerk to her at first to keep the EQ from getting leverage but damn it is going to be good… and MR. Carlyle WILL make us all weep…he’s just that good…and sexy…and amazing…okay I’m stopping… 😳

Don’t worry EnchantedOne, you are not alone! I have complete faith in Carlyle that he will do an epically sexy job of acting in this scene. I bet it’s going to be one of the most emotional moments on the show.
Hello all! Newbie jumping in. I have to agree with most of the folks here. I think Rumpel’s discovery of Belle will be epic and I fully expect to need lots of tissues. But I was struck by a thought, what if EQ has Belle’s heart in one of her little boxes? All she would have to do is squeeze…how do you think that would affect Rumpel?
Oh no! 😯 i never thought of that. then she would have more power over Rumpel because even if he got Belle out of the basement place EQ would still be able to hurt/kill her. and would that mean that Belle wouldn’t be able to love him? then it would be like their roles were reversed because in FTL Rumpel was the one who couldn’t/wouldn’t love her. oooh, twist. 😉
Yeah, it would definitely make for an interesting twist. On the one hand, EQ would have Rumple in a stranglehold. On the other, depriving Belle of all emotion could be the one thing that kept her sane through nearly 30 years of solitary confinement.

Can’t believe I hadn’t considered that possibility before. Yikes, that would NOT be good. And I could totally see Regina having Belle’s heart stashed in a box. Would be the perfect way for her to control Mr Gold if he knew that she quite literally held his true love’s life in her hand.
I suppose Mr Gold would need to find a way to restore that heart to its rightful place. Which would have to involve magic of some kind. Which would put a glitch in his plan if his overall plan was to rid the world of magic as I’ve previously theorised.
I have a question…This just struck me the other day. When Regina goes to visit Belle in the psych ward she asks if Belle has had any visiters. What was that about? I find that very very weird. The girl is locked in your secret psych ward and you want to know if anyone has been in to see her as if you know someone comes regularly…right? Am I off on this one?

Hmm, that’s actually a really good point. Maybe Regina ask that to make sure that Mr. Gold hadn’t been there. He’s the only person she needs to worry about. And when he finds out that Regina has been keeping Belle locked up, WORLD WAR III SHALL COMMENCE!!! 😈 😈 😈

Maybe she meant Belle’s dad? Rumple/Gold thinks Belle’s dead. But you’re right, that is weird. Maybe the psych ward isn’t so secret after all…
