I was disappointed that part 2 of the podcast did not discuss the scene where Belle reunited with Gold in his shop because I would have loved to hear their opinions on it. I decided to make a forum to let out some of my emotions on this intense moment and the dislike of the forest scene.
A lot of people are saying how the forest scene they shared illustrated how power hungry Rumple is and that he didn’t seem that concerned for Belle because he didn’t even bother to walk beside her. Thus, people think Rumpel does not deserve Belle. However, the first scene where they meet, you could see Gold’s heart shatter. Nearly sobbing, and wrapping his arms tightly around Belle, he promises to protect her. This is huge. He obviously cares deeply about Belle, especially because he let down his guard and told her he loves her. Not only that, but he seems to be figuring out how to put her into his centuries old plan as he rushes with her through the forest to complete it. Yes he was eager to get it down ,but at the same time would not let her out of his sight. (Notice at the very end he has his arm around her shoulder ;)). Also, by Gold saying “she did this to you” indicates he’ll be seeking revenge in the future. There will be more tension between Rumpel and Regina than ever thanks to Jefferson because he is munipulating Rumpel to do what he can’t (kill Regina)
Hopefully next season Belle and Rumpel will have the time to talk about a plan for the future. It is clear from Skin Deep Belle does not want to be a damsel in distress. So I’m sure she will not just play some pawn in Rumpels agenda. Like she said before in Skin Deep “There aren’t a lot of opportunities in this land to show what women can do. To be heroes” I really liked what obisgirl said about how Belle will act as Rumpel’s consonance. I heard that the first episode will be Rumpel centric with flashbacks of him.

WHAT?!?!?!? SERIOUSLY?!?!?!? Ok, my heart just exploded with happiness!!! Ok, now I’m more hyped than ever to see season 2! 😀
I thought Mr. Gold and Belle’s reunion in the shop was so unbelievably touching. Mr. Gold looked as though he had seen a ghost. And he probably thought that he was. He thought Belle had been dead for decades, and the thought of seeing her again never even crossed his mind. I also loved how he touched Belle’s shoulder just to see if she was real. He probably thought he was hallucinating.
For some reason, I didn’t have a problem with the second scene in the forest. I was too busy fangirling to notice anything negative. 😆 But before Belle arrived in Mr. Gold’s shop, he was already going forward with his plan to use the true love potion to bring magic to Storybrooke. So, that was going to be his plan no matter what. So no, Rumpel didn’t choose power over love again. He didn’t expect to see Belle again. And Belle ddin’t protest to what he was doing either. Yes, she did give a pretty big WTF look, but she didn’t say anything. 😀 It would be different is she told Rumpel to stop what he was doing and run away with her, and Rumpel refused and tossed her away, but that didn’t happen.

GAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!! I TOTALLY CALLED IT!!! The first episode will be Rumpel-centric! 😀 😀 😀 And it makes sense. The season finale left off on Rumpel, so it should naturally pick back up with Rumpel. 😉
I agree with everything you said, Lissy. Their reunion was heartbreaking. Mr. Gold’s face and tears spoke volumes.
May 20, 2012 at 8:03 pm #147386lissyParticipantHis face hurts my heart! I’m so happy you guys agree with me. I know the whole “magic is power’ line foreshadows Rumpel’s struggle between power and love, but I get sad when people only pick out the negative parts of the Belle and Rumpel reunion and fail to mention the tragically beautiful love between the two.
May 20, 2012 at 9:03 pm #147392the_saviorParticipantI think in the first couple of episodes in season 2 will revolve around why exactly Rumepl needs his power, and I truly believe it has to do with this “final battle”, and that in fairy-tale world it will pick off with Snow/Charming take the kingdom, which will result in some serious consequences which will result into the “final” battle. I mean, the way Gold said “there is something that I must do” kinda gave me chills up my spine, like there is something that only he can do, and for the moment he has to sacrifice a proper reunion and save someone, or something from something horrible.
While I do believe he is addicted to power, I think based off his reaction from seeing Belle and thinking that August was Bae shows that he is truly sorry for his actions, and would be willing to give up his power to be with them.
I mean, he was in a rush, and for him to stop and completely forget about what “he must do” and tell Belle that he loves her was very touching, and I think shows how much he loves her.

I agree. The final battle is coming and Rumpel is going to be in trouble if he doesn’t have his powers. 😮

Seriously? This scene wasn’t covered in the podcast?? Shameful, because that was a pivotal scene and one that alot of viewers have been waiting for since episode 12!
May 20, 2012 at 10:45 pm #147401obisgirlParticipanthere’s what I think will happen in season 2:
the first episode will open with them still in Storybrooke, (hopefully still with their FT memories in tact) and preparations will start for the finale battle. I think it’s possible the final battle will take place entirely in Storybrooke and the only time, everyone will go back to FT world is when Good wins.
I don’t want to believe yet that Rumpel is doing this all for himself. There’s a reason he does everything.
May 20, 2012 at 11:26 pm #147405crimson angelParticipantI kind of feel Mr Gold had to rush to regain his magic. Once the curse was broken he needed to be able to protect themselves. The towns people will be out for blood and without power he would be as good as dead. Plus I think he will need his magic to find Bae.

I agree. It did seem as if there was a time crunch — maybe a window of time after the curse was broken in order to bring magic back? Maybe he knew the town-folk would be coming after him as much as Regina once they got their memories back? Maybe he figured Regina would be hot on his heels to get the Love Potion #9. I haven’t had a chance to listen to the podcast yet, but I don’t feel at all that he abandoned her on his mad quest for power. He told her, “There will be time for everything,” after he accomplished his task.
