I’m liking the PapaPan theory. Not sold on it and still leaning towards Pan being his BFF or Bro but still liking it, nevertheless.
See I’m the opposite. I’m like 99.9% sold on TeamBrothers. To have it be father/son would just be a level of weird that I don’t think A and E want to go for, for sake of the casual audience. The other .01% of me thinks they were best friends growing up in the same village. But then I go back to Barrie’s original text and the fact that Peter has a younger brother.

Pan asked Rumple “Have you forgiven YOUR family”. This word implies that they do not share the same father. What if they are half brothers who share a mother?

That’s true but I also think that sometimes when a family member has wronged you, you cut them off and refuse to speak of them as if they were still related to you. For the idea that they are your family is too painful to bring up. Emma doesn’t refer to Snow and Charming as mom and dad outside of intense emotional moments. I also don’t think A and E would give away the big moment in a passing conversation like that.
TeamBrothers for me at least is about being brothers whether it’s blood, adopted, or half-siblings. Family is family.

Yes, he did have a baby brother. I think that was in the book Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens and Queen Mab let him go home only to find out that his mother had forgotten him and had replaced him with a new baby. 🙁
As I said, I’m still leaning in favour of Pan being his brother, especially with all the Lost nods, but I can’t rule out the possibility of him being his father, his BFF or an imaginary friend.

PP asked Rumple, “Have you forgiven your father?” not family. If that’s the case, then I wager that PP is not Rumple’s daddy (complicated age issues aside), because that would be odd for PP to speak of himself in the third person. Also, Rumple told Bae in 3×4 that Rumple and PP grew up together.

You’re right. And I still think my point above about how you dissociate from family members and the language you use after that dissolution stands. Pan knows way too much about Rumple and Rumple’s father to just be a casual fellow villager. TeamBrothers.

I finally got around to reading this theory!
It’s interesting. But we also know that Rumple grew up in a land that is not NL, where imagination runs wild. So how would an imaginary friend become real in FTL when it doesn’t work on the same principles as NL?
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"November 5, 2013 at 9:38 am #221225PheeParticipantI’m wondering if the way that PP talks to Rumple is how an older brother might speak to a much younger brother, especially if the father is absent from the picture, and the older brother takes care of the little brother.
I think Pan is probably doing and saying things that their father did. Dad probably used to call Rumple, “laddie” and dad is probably the one who used to make them breakfast, and always made sure the yolk in Rumple’s was runny, just the way he liked it. Peter’s probably always had a well done yolk, which he hated. Every morning he’d glare across the breakfast table at daddy’s favourite, precious little Rumple, with his runny yolk, and little Rumple wouldn’t even have to look across the table himself, he’d just feel his brother’s intense glare stabbing into him.
